| I haven't even had a chance to go squirrel hunting this season. My wife and her sister are fighting, so my wife won't go out to the farm so I can hunt, and I can't find anyone willing to babysit my boys so I can go. Nice one Jr.! |

| Congrats. Looks like it may have been a body shot where it bled internally since I don't see any blood. I always feel good when I get a female, especially a heavy pregnant one or one with pronounced teets. My kills always slow way down this time of year but I still get a squirrel maybe once a week or so. I've really lowered the population around my area over the years which is nice. |

| I don't have to worry about squirrels in my neighborhood. I wiped out most of them years ago. The only thing I can't seem to make a dent in is starlings. I tear them up every year, and it doesn't seem to help more than one season. They will get rare at the end of summer, but then they are 20 deep around my dog's food bowl every spring. I don't mind killing them, don't get me wrong, but I would like to keep the bird droppings on my deck and cars down. It gets ridiculous. I do like sitting in a neighbor's back yard mooching free beer for killing a dozen or so of them. lol |

I actually aimed for the Lungs. When I gutted the Squirrel, The Heart was in pieces. |

| My boys love squirrel, especially if they helped bag them. My 10 year old is getting tired of trying to pump up his 760. I know there is a single pump daisy, but I don't know it, and I haven't found one yet. Anybody know the rifle I am talking about? |

I think you are talking about the 953. However, that Air rifle only shoots about 500 Fps, doesn't seem enough to be Squirrel Hunting with. |

He wouldn't be using the gun for hunting, he would be using my 2400 until the temp drops a little more. I just want something to teach him basic riflemanship without breaking his arms to do so. I guess I want him to have more Independence. We never hunt very long. It usually ends us shooting walnuts or something. He doesn't have enough patience for more than 2 or 3 squirrels. Just something a good hunter has to learn.
I did find out that I may be getting him a 1077. Does anybody know what it is sized for? He's about 4'10 to 5 foot or so. I keep forgetting to measure how tall he is though. I do know he wears a size 14 pants, and he weighs 155. Yes he is 10. lol My father in alw was about 6'6 and eh weighed about 350. I looked like I was 12 standing next to him. I have a feeling my boy will be bigger than me. |

I shot one yesterday that was on the ground facing away from me where it was partly angled to the side. I shot it and the pellet went in the side of the gut and into the heart without going through the body. Hardly a drop of blood. It ran away about 40ft then died.
It was a medium sized tree rat that had sprouted a pair so that's why he didn't run away from me when he had the chance. He was leery of me yet he froze when he saw me appear. Funny how they think not moving in the wide open will keep you from seeing them. I think a part of it is attitude from testosterone and trying to save face despite knowing they are in real danger and wanting to run away.
It's like they're saying I'm tough and you're not scaring me away easy. (BANG) Doh! he got me....I should have.....ran........away..... |

They migrate every year so you're seeing new ones with some of the regulars. I see them land in my yard by the thousands when they pass through my area. You could kill a thousand of them and it not look like you even made a dent in their population but as many people there are killing them I'm sure it makes an impact. You just wouldn't know it by looking at the huge flocks that pass through. |
