Howdy all,
I just found this site , today. As a result of having a day off, in the middle of the week, with the kids at school,,,, QUIET, LOL.

I recently gave my 9 year old his first pellet rifle, for his B-day.
A Ruger (Umarex) explorer. I mounted a beeman scope on it.
He has passed my tests of gun handling responsibility with his daisy red ryder.
I built him a railroad tie backstop, out back.for target shooting.
And we have a long shop, that we can plink in , this winter.
I bought myself a beeman , and put a Leapers scope on it, so as to plink with him.
Lately we've been hotglueing gumballs to a board, and they really shatter when hit.
We also shoot paper targets.
I really would like to see him be able to get in on this fortnight target shooting.
I posted my questions to Alstone on the target board, concerning the age thing.

But , so far , I think its great that this site has so much to offer, and I am looking forward to spending more time here.

Thanks
Dusty

Welcome to the forum, DustyRoundup!

My experience with kids is that they like targets that make noise or move - paper circles are boring. Go to the target section of this forum and look at the back pages. There are lots of ideas for indoor backstops and targets, probably enough to last through even a Montana winter.

I'm 14 and I still like targets that make noise or move! Mr. Green

No offense intended, Jr. Squirreler. We're all kids lusting after a "Red Ryder 200 shot range model carbine with a compass in the stock and a thing which tells time."

I know of a couple of good ones. One of them is a knockover squirrel. Walmart used to carry them. You can see what they are here: http://www.pyramydair.com/a/Accessories/Targets_traps_and_ranges/Metal/103

Good luck! Smile
