was reading about scopes and read about scope lag. so i re adj scope 1 shot 3 shots per target
8 clicks up and 2 clicks right second 2 shots up from 7 ring to split 8 9 rings will put about 20 shots with these settings
and see where the group go's

I'm not sure what you are talking about.... but if you are thinking that scopes need time to settle into a new adjustment then that is not normally the case, unless you have a really crappy scope....

What DOES happen with most of the cheaper scopes is that if you turn the adjustment one direction and then the other, the first few clicks it doesn't do anything, or at least it doesn't track the way it should.... It's not "lag" as in time lag, it's "play" as in slack in the adjustment when you reverse direction....

With scopes that suffer from this problem, it's best to sneak up on the adjustment from one direction at a time.... I do horizontal (windage) first and then once the group is on the vertical centerline of the target, then I do the vertical adjustment.... If I go past where I need to be, then I find the easiest thing to do is go back, say, 10 clicks and then forward 8 (or 6 or whatever) so that I'm always approaching where I want to be from the same direction....

Note, that with a really good scope, this doesn't happen.... If you go right 10 clicks, up 10, left 10, and then down 10 you will get virtually a perfect square where your shots hit the target....

hey bob thanks for the reply just got a benji trail npxl 1100 had zero than started shooting low to the left sometimes i was puting 2 in almost same hole may have bumped it so it started shooting off re adjusted scope have the center point scope that came with xl 1100

did call crosman and ask for torque specs for scope and the scope is between 14, 17 inch pounds

Don't be at all concerned by a wandering POI until the rifle is fully broken in and the barrel is seasoned.

Good idea about having the last adjustment increasing the tension on the erector tube.... I hadn't thought of it that way but it makes perfect sense....

Inside the scope is a tube with a lense (or lenses) inside that turns the image from inverted to upright (ie erect).... This is necessary because in a simple telescope the image is inverted.... All riflescopes have an assembly called an erector tube with an extra lense (or lenses) to make the image of the target right way up.... The reticle (crosshairs) is usually mounted in that tube, and the two adjusting knobs push against the top and right sides of the tube against a spring (or springs) that are trying to push the erector tube up and to the right (against the adjusting knobs).... When you turn the knobs "in" you are moving the tube down and left against the spring(s)....
