Hey guys. I recently obtained my air gun and have shot about 50 pellets so far with it. I noticed that the seal around the part of the barrel end where I load the pellets into the gun has began to get really dry. I noticed when I first got the gun that the seal was moist with some kind of oil, grease, etc.
I was wondering what kind of grease, oil, substance do I need to use to put on that area to prevent the seal from drying up and braking ? |

Silicone chamber oil (crosman or RWS) is the first choice.
or
Silicone grease for lubricating O rings...you can get this from the hardware store in the plumbing department. |

That seal is not so critical to stay lubed- on modern airguns it is made out of a fairly hard urethane (i.e. 90 durometer)- the lube is mainly to protect it ever so slightly from rubbing too much on the tube/fork assembly when opening and closing the barrel. A drop of some sort of silicone lube when you notice is it extremely dry is about as good as you can do.
The seal, however, does not absorb much, if any of the lube- so it cannot "dry out" so easily like a softer rubber or old-style leather seals. |

| I concur with Eric. You don't need much, if anything, there. I never lube mine anyway, and some of my guns have thousands of shots through them. |

| Mine was the same way. Make sure to get quality pellets and master the artillery hold or your accuracy will be crap with it. |
