I'm in the market for a new rifle, preferably multi shot PCP. But it MUST be .177 cal & MUST be smooth bore. Could just get a Discovery...shoot enough steel darts down the barrel and it won't have enough rifling left to sneeze at. Maybe there's a barrel that IS smoothbore and can be swapped in??? Or build up something along the lines of the 1077 barrel system using 1/4" brakeline for the barrel "proper". Need a lathe for that I'm thinkin. And we are only allowed .177 call and only in smooth bore. This leaves us with very little options. Even worse, these antiquated laws leaves local airgun dealers to hold us to ransom. One guy was trying to sell me a GAMO Whisper for TT$6400.00. The conversion rate of TT$ to US$ is 6.40 to 1 This same item with rifling costs between USD $195-$250 depending on point of purchase. Short story shorter, I refuse to be robbed by unscrupulous people for the sake of ancient laws. Do you have the facilities (tools and a place to use them) to build something?? As mentioned, 1/4" brakeline fits .177 pellets pretty darn well. Considering diablo pellets are a drag stabilized design, all you really need to do (for reasonable accuracy) is direct them to the same point...really don't need the rifling if you can make do with shorter ranges. If the pellets are a touch loose...you can swage the skirt with a ball bearing until it fits and seals. Have you seen this before? Rather impressive given the lack of machine tools to construct. Building an air gun? This place is so backward I need to apply for a permit to import a decent scope with mounts & rails or any sort of airgun parts at that. And I'll have to wait about 6 months to get the permit. Then wait for said items to be cleared by customs in about 3 days, then turned over to the police for their inspection to ensure it has all their limitations in place another and this takes about 2 months. I already have the permit to import an air rifle, so this would be my safest & simplest bet. A good gunsmith could smooth bore any rifle of your choice and you would then buy that rifle from them. There are certainly folks on this forum with that level of skill or... mountain airguns maybe Archer airguns There is also a guy here in Canada that might take that on as a challenge project. To my knowledge searching for a multishot PCP smoothbore from a known manufacturer would be futile.
