Every 500 shots? 1,000 shots?

There was no booklet or info that came with my Ruger rifle and I see the book on my Powerline rifle recommends to lube the barrel every 1,000 rounds but I'm wondering if that interval is too long where the barrels could get dry and dirty before then where accuracy could be affected by it.

Wipe it down after each use, or if you just want to pick it up and admire it, wipe it down at the same time. Most modern springers, once lubed properly inside don't require internal lubrication for many thousands of shots. Once a year put a drop of oil on the pivot points. too much lube is not good for a springer. Clean barrels when accuracy falls off and can't be attributed to scope, loose fasteners, etc.
Edit>Don't lube the inside (bore) of your barrel!

Why not? It was heavily lubed when I got it out of the box. It took about 25 shots until I didn't have oil blasting out of the barrel when fired.

To much Dieseling can heavily decrease the Accuracy of the Air rifle, sometimes, just flat out ruin the barrel.

When the pressure builds up from an explosion from too much lube, it puts back-pressure on the seals and can blow them out. I personally have seen it happen to a chinese airgun when the owner didn't bother to clean anything on the rifle when he got it. I clean the barrel free of any oil when it is brand new so that I don't have this problem. If there is smoke and oil coming out then there is too much lube in it. The only thing you want to use on anything near the breech is silicone lube. I don't use anything personally but I have heard diver's grease is a good substitute. I've never found a need to lubricate anything but the hinge and moly grease is really good for that.

Ah, that explains the smoke I saw when I fired it the first several times. Glad it didn't combust on me. Thanks for explaining.
