The scope will make difference as I put the same scope on my Air Hawk. I also found that mine likes the JSB Diabolo Heavy pellets. The Crosman Premier Pointed pellets frustrated me with touching groups at 10yds and 7" groups at 30yds. The CP Hollow Points got me to about 1.5" groups but the JSB Heavy will shoot .5" groups at 30yds if I can hold it steady enough. You have to find the pellet the gun likes. Also, mine hates gun rests, I have to hold it or I get high flyers. Hope this helps. |

Now that is interesting because my Gamo BC does the same thing and I thought it was just me... Even with rolled towels under the stock I cannot get anywhere close to the grouping I can get by just holding the rifle. I can shoot quarters at 35 yards (the distance from the edge of my driveway to the fence gate in the vineyard) all day long standing, sitting or prone. |

Did you guys try resting your rifles on their center of gravity? If so and the shots still missed do you think the towels or whatever you had them on were too soft where the recoil made the rifle adjust on what they were rested on?
I just got my new scope so I jerry rigged a table up with a towel for the rifle to rest on with the target at 10yds away and the shots were fairly consistent with a 3" group with some 5" strays. I now have to try to dial it in at 20-25yds where I have the majority of my kills. Hopefully the shots will stay consistent enough for me to do that. |

I picked these guys off at 15 and 20 yards. One shot each. I was sighted for 30 yards and the pellets went a little low, just under the skull. I need 1" groups at 30 yards to hit these guys in the head.

Nice shots. Yep your rifle looks identical to mine now.
Ok the new scope is dialed in now but I'm still getting inconsistent 5" groups at 20yds despite shooting it with the artillery hold while held at it's COG. So now I will have to look into other pellets for better accuracy.
I put the 4x32 scope that came with the ruger on my daisy 880S and dialed it in at 20yds and that sucker is dead on now. I threw the skinny 4x15 daisy scope in the trash where it belongs. |

I have rarely seen that though. Most of them are just fine. Sometimes I see skirts that are slightly bent so I throw those away.
I damaged a lot of crowns and skirts once when the tin would not open. I have had several crosman destroyer hollow point tins that were hard to open like that. I hit it to break it loose and the tin bent in and damaged the pellets. It was probably around 75 pellets that I had to throw away after I finally got the tin open.
That ticked me off. |

He is talking about barrel crown. Check out the sticky in this section "Barrel Re-Crowning". |
