My new pack gun in coming together nicely.Just now playing with power adjustments, and running it over the Chrony... Cool
I really like this set up...It is nice, and compact for a day in the field yet,it is longer than the original Disco.... trigger pull/reach wise when unfolded, and ready to go...It comes in handy,as I'm 6' 7".I could not even get a cheek weld with the original Disco stock... Rolling Eyes
I still have to reshape the fill cap to accept one of Joe's brakes I have, but that's easy enough..Wink
A few more mods will be coming as well...a varmints nightmare in the making.....Twisted Evil

Shocked ..I thought that applied to only firearms, and not airguns?

I finally got around to playing with the chrony today doing some initial testing on the Disco .22.
Filling to 2400 PSI "with a stock hammer spring",and using 14.3 Crosman pointed pelets I fired 10 shots at full power"a half turn from coil bind on the power adjuster" for a high of 910.6 FPS=26.34 FPE
At this point I was at 2000 PSI,and just for kicks I went as low as I could...
a whopping 217 FPS=1.5 FPE..... Laughing
I'm sure I was close to valve lock on that one....Rolling Eyes
I think I might stick with the stock hammer spring,as there is such a wide range of possibilities here..
Now that I have some numbers down for this pellet,I'm going to figure out what produces acceptable performance,a flat string, and a-lot of shots.. Cool
Then on to the next pellet..... Rolling Eyes This will take a-while...... Razz
Bob already did a-lot of this for us,but it's fun to see for oneself firsthand.

Very nice design Mark and smart woodwork, that’s something like I’m looking for but using a 2240 as the base, also were not allowed folding stocks in the UK.

Why thank you Sir.. Smile You guys get to play with silencers over there though,so I'll trade you laws... Razz
This thing is LOUD on full power... Rolling Eyes
I plan on putting an entire upper end from Crosmods on this as funds permit.
I like the idea of a shrouded set up....this thing needs it...
Glad to hear you're working on another 2240...I like your work.
I've also been playing with my 2300KT....it now has a 24' barrel on it.Ridiculously long, but I want to see what it chronys at.It looks kind of like like a spear gun with optics on it..... Laughing

A shrouded set up would be interesting, it would look very much like a over under shotgun with a folding stock, a totally unique look.

As for the 24” barrel on your 2300, I’m interested what difference an 18” barrel in .177 will make to a 2240?

Al

Laughing ...that's why I'm building it Pete...this one goes in the pack on the mountain bike.My goal is to have a pack gun that can be adjusted from a stock 2240 pistol power level, and "nearly"up to a stock .25 Marauder at factory ..settings....pellet weight dependent of course...I think it's conceivable with the right combination of tweaks, and time for testing.Shot count isn't really my concern on high power...it's the range of adjustments I'm looking at....critters don't notice if you have 60 good shots or 10.....shot placement I can do..

That would be interesting to find out.Ultimately I want to order a few different barrel lengths in both calibers.I do have a 24" in .177 as well but have never done that swap yet.I did test the 2300 today with the '24 in .22 cal,and hit 609.4 FPS with a 14.3 grain Crosman pointed. The gun is bone stock internally with the exception of a hammer spring from a 1377.With the 10" barrel I was hitting a high of 500.3 FPS...almost 110 FPS difference. That being said when I did test the gun,the power adjuster was roughly 2 full turns in from the stock setting,so that 110 FPS jump isn't just from the barrel swap alone. Not a true measurement of just the barrel swap alone I know..still just playing, and I need to tighten up the testing,to get true results,as changes are made..

I found that combination shot about 650 fps at 20*C (68*F) with 7.9 gr. pellets....
