I started my boy with a red ryder when he was 7. He just didn 't get to shoot unless I was with him. It's no big deal if they are supervised.

8 years! No hope for you JR. Go score a fix and let us know how it shoots.

Forty eight years ago was my first fix, a Red Ryder (I think).

That's the right age. My first airgun was a daisy pumper when I was 6. Then got my Ruger 10/22 when I was 8. Laughing

No real punishment there:

400 Fpe + Beaumont Odin Muzzleloader. Caliber: 12,7 mm, in other words POINT FIVE OH! Razz

And that's one of the more expensive ones. Once you get into big bores... Razz

I prefer "pellet gun" for the exact reason you dislike it.

I wish folks (especially law makers) would not take them so seriously. The more innocent and weak, and child toy-ish they sound the more rights we have with them.

In my state, anything more than 700 fps or 18 caliber is counted as a firearm. That means no break-barrels and no 22s and why bother with PCP?

Someone took them too seriously, and now I have to follow firearm laws unless it is a weaker airgun. Mad

This means no shooting in city limits at the risk of being arrested for a felony.

So I signed up over at the Crosman air pistol forum and have bought a 1377 American Classic and am looking into some light mods, to get it right up near 700 fps. Cool

Man, I hope I can get out of this poo-poo state pretty soon...

If you're smart, you'll belittle your airguns as much as possible, lest the same fate befall you. I recommend "BB gun" or "pellet gun."

I'm also not sensitive to it because I'm a firearm owner. I've got a bunch of powder burners, so I don't feel belittled if someone pokes fun at me.

No, that would be "large cupped adult play toy". Razz

On topic tho'. Today's pellet shooters aren't to be taken lightly.
80 yard pass thru on critters is nothing to horse play with.
