Sniper, I have to have SOMETHING to do when the sun is out. lol The kids are too old to take naps during the day. I do have 2 teens with us that are family friends to keep them busy in the pool, but my wife wants to be in the pool too. I personally don't care for the pool, but it's fun to watch them all try to drown each other. lol

Well Todd,
Sometimes things only look greener on the other side of the fence till you get
over there as your experiencing.

I was just reading an article from 2009 that said Florida was over run with Iguana's and for $10.00 you could get a license that was good for a month to shoot the messy destructive lizards as long as you were a good shot. They didn't seem to think the majority of Floridians were good shots I guess?

So you might want to look into that if there are many ferral Iguana's in the local where your at.

Good luck there Todd, as you might need your Titan to handle the job effectively.

Hey David. I let my wife decide where we are going each year since she is the one who pays for our trip. This year she wanted florida so that is what she got. lol I would rather be in south carolina because ai like it better there for me, but like I said, she earns these vacations so I make sure we go somewhere she wants to go. Oh, and I brought my 2400 and my 2300 so I don''t have to worry about FPE. lol

Hi Todd,

It's true you have to keep the wife happy especially under the circumstance.

I'm sure South Carolina does offer a lot more freedom to hunt whatever might be available, I know another guy who works for the dept of fisheries in the outer banks area.

Anyway, if Florida is still having a problem with the prehistoric holdovers [Iguanas] then possibly you might have a hunting possibility or also inquire about Rat problems? The main thing is they want know your a Responsible hunter and a Fairly Decent Shot. LoL ROTF & LMAO They should be so adept at shooting. I sometimes wonder if a lot of these Bureaucrats know one end of a pistol or rifle from the other??

I hear the Mosquitos down there are the size of small birds due to all the swamps in that state. Maybe they need some insect or spider erradication?

Don't forget about using Q'Tips for target practice if all else fails.

Take care,
David

Hey guys! I just went to walmart and bought one of those foam blocks for target practice. It's better than nothing I guess. Oh David? The Qtips are almost impossible to get into the bolt action of a 22xx. Laughing I did get to shootl a swamp rat the size of a small poodle. Twisted Evil Didn't even phase the damned thing.

As far as using the QTips I figured you'd have to cut them short enough to work feasably and fly fairly straight.

That Swamp Rat sounds more like a Opossum as those damn things are tough to kill to say the least.

Here's a link you might find interesting?

I did try and look up the location you said you were going to but it seemed fairly populated to me?

Well David, I have no cell phone service, sattelite TV and a built in backup diesel generator. The road is only about a foot higher then the water at high tide, and everything is on poles. lol There are a lot of houses around me that line the beach, but when I hiked over to the bay side of the ocean there is nothing, Just grass plants and palm trees. I am wearing my snake gaiters because I have seen plenty of them. It is just a sand bar that we are on here, and it's at the narrow part. It's water in the backyard, then the house then the road. As soon as I can post some pics I will. It's a pretty place to stay. I just won't bring my kids back because I saw a gator in the water behind the house. I won't let them in the backyard now.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that there is only one road in and out.

That's what I joked to some of the other guy about when you left, I said I wonder how many gators Todd would bag while down there? LoL

EXTREME CAUTION SEE BELOW !! V

I looked up the location you mentioned on the web and it showed some homes up on stilts/poles and I knew that was due to the tide especially if there any kind of even samll Tsunami you'll be in a lake at least temporarly. LoL

The article I sent you does say that there are a considerable number of snakes but not all are poisons but that somewhat of a laugh as that how most all snakes kill or paralize their pray to eat them! So someone didn't really explain it fully. Maybe only 10 or 12 are actually poisons to man!

USE EXTREME CAUTION!!! If you see a somewhat small snake with a rather pointed head that is black with multi-colored bands around it. It could well be a Coral Snake and they are extremely deadly.

Keep this little rime in mind:

Red & Black friend of Jack,
Red & Yellow, Kill a Fellow!

If the Red & black bands are touching, it's safe it's a King Snake;
If the Red & Yellow bands are touching, it's a Deadly Coral Snake!
Their bite can cause death within 20 minutes!

I'm no sure if they have any down there but be cautious and tell everyoue else about this. Glad I remembered.

David
