Hello folks,
I am new here so first let me say Hi and I've been enjoying what I've learned so far from this site.

My first question. Around 1960 my Dad bought me my first BB gun.

It was a Daisy with a wooden stock and forestock, had a rear sight and a front hooded sight that had interchangeable sight pins of different types. It also came with a leather sling.

Can anyone tell me what model that was and overall how it compared to other guns of that vintage? And no, I no longer have it.

Thanks very much.

Hi Hawker and welcome to the forum,

I'm not sure about your Daisy BB gun, I had one that was a multiple shot single pump which you pulled back the slide under the barrel tube. The end of barrel tube came out and you could put in 50 BB's in a spring loaded magazine and every time you cocked it by pumping it another BB would be injected into the barrel, ready to be fired.

I think I remember seeing something like you describe but not sure?

Maybe try a web search?

Welcome.

Scroll through this list of Daisy rifles. You might see yours.
http://www.daisyking.com/forsale/rifles-daisy.htm

Also, tell us more about your gun.

. multi-pump, or single pump
. lever action? pump? breakbarrel?
. bb or pellet or both
. anything else you might remember about it

Thanks guys, very helpful. Crosman140, I did indeed find it on the site you suggested. It was a the model 99. My Dad bought it for me and had the stock cut down to fit me at the time. I did think the variety of sight pins you could insert in the front site were very cool. Like many of us (I'm 61) I'm afraid I no longer have it.

Thanks again.
Steve

Glad that list helped. I've always had a thing for Daisy's. Got my first air rifle when I was around 16...a Daisy 880. Smile

I see yours was a target model with peep sights.

Now that you have a model number, you'll be able to google pictures and information.

The Daisy model 99 Champion eventually morphed into the model 299, Daisy's first example of a target BB gun. Then, in 1976 they came out with the model 499.
