I've got a spring that's .045" x 2.32" x .31" OD with 21 coils. To spare the trouble of opening it up to try a spring that may or may not work, does anyone know if this should work as a stronger spring?

I'm guessing that it will be too long, but if you cut it to about 1.75-2" long it might work.... With that size wire it will likely be pretty hard to cock the gun, however.... I've never used anything bigger than 0.040" wire....

Nice, what a score from a broken staple gun! Thanks. I forgot to ask as I was trying to post before going to work but what are the dimensions of the original spring? I was going to use a stronger spring in my 1377 but to get it to cock had to cut it to where it wasn't even pushing the hammer for the last half inch of it's travel

The original spring is just under 5/16" OD, made from 0.035" wire, and about 1.9" long uncompressed....

Great, thanks again. If I get my chrony back in the morning I'll put up a shot string before and after the swap, otherwise it'll just get the 2x4 test

Didn't work. Just slightly too big of an OD, and you were right, it was a bit difficult to cock the gun, even when cut down to 1 3/4". Ah well it shoots well enough with the stock spring anyway. Though I would like to find a better quality spring to replace it with, mine is a little canted and the metal feels very cheap

Trakar in Ontario Canada makes a perfect upgrade spring for the Disco.... It's 0.30" OD, 0.040" wire, and 1.75" long.... They are available from Michael on the CAF who goes by the name of "DerekVinyard"....

http://www.airgunforum.ca/forums/member4788.html

You may have to register there to PM him, but it's free to register.... He also carries the lighter (0.020" wire) trigger spring for the 2260/Disco trigger.... He will ship to the USA but be warned we may be entering a Postal Strike any day now....

Well for now I decided to put it in the oven at 450* for 40 minutes and let it air cool. My chrony is being a real piece of crap right now but at 2400 psi the first shot clocked at 843 with CPUM, which is only 23 fps less than the first shot at 2000 before tempering

Sounds like a decent spring.... The Trakar one shot about 870-880 fps with 15.9 gr. Exacts at 2400 psi at the beginning of the string and peaked at about 900-910 at 1800 psi.... everything stock except the spring and no RVA....

Wow, that sounds like some serious work! This one must not be doing too bad then once it gets a bit under 2300. Hopefully I can get a new chrony soon, the mystery is killing me, I gotta know what I really did!
