Terrible consistency issues with them. Some fit tight, some are so loose you really do wonder how they stay in the barrel. I tried the Match, Hunter and the PBA Gold. The Hunter's were the best of the bunch, but still terrible manufacturing tolerances and I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with the PBA Gold. I tried some Polymag Predator pellets last night & it is a whole new world! I use those Shoot-N-C targets that flake the black stuff off and leave the bright day-glo color behind to show the impact area. Well at 33 yards with the Predator pellets all I needed was the little black quarter sized stickers they give you as repair patches. I have yet get my Trail .177 NP, but I purchased the Crossman 7.9 grn Copperhead Hyper velocity, 'pointed pellets' which are not anywhere near as pointed as the RWS Superpoint Extra's I have, have you tried the Crossmans in your Trail NP? The thing I've noted comparing the Crossman's HV's with the RWS's is that they are shorter than the RWS and seem to have the majority of their weight forward. I also bought the Gamo 8.5 grns which are the same length as the RWS but they supposedly don't work very well per a past post. While the RWS are supposed to be good they are quite expensive too. I read a critique on SG site about the Trail NP and one fellow said he was getting 1/8" groups at 45 yrds but didn't say what pellets he was using? Everyone of the 20 posts had nothing but good to say about our choice of rifle. That made feel a lot better. That's exactly the reason they brought out the .177 is to decrease the drag so it would pass through the first one killing it and then into the second an i mule killing it for added protection! Btw, what rifle did you use?? You should contact the Mfg as that's one hell of a, 'test a mony' to their rifle as well as the Pellet Mfg'er!! Speaking of that, what brand of pellets were you using? I want to order some of them!! I now looked back and saw you did mention the Crossman HP's, man Crossman should be after you to promote their products. What an endorsement!! !! !! If I didn't know you were such an upstanding type of guy I might tend to think you were trying to Bull sh!t us, but I know that's not the case. OK, getting back on topic... being strictly a target shooter I go with JSB 8.4gr in both my Weihrauch 77 and Royale 400. In the Baikal 46 RWS R10 7.0gr and Meisterkugeln 7.0gr seem to shoot very nice. I haven't really tried them out in my Benjamin NP .177 but the few I've shot don't seat anywhere near as completely as the Crossman Hunting pellets. The Gamo's stick out from the barrel considerable more. Also it seems the Gamo's are much rougher in their appearance as to how they're made. I'm not real satisfied with the results I getting from the Crosman Hunter's either though. It's a lot of trial and error so this thread helps considerably.
