Going to get a scope for my crosman and wanted some recomendations. I haven't made any mods to it yet. I am getting a wire stock. But nothing more besides the scope.

I'll be using the crosman 459MT 2 piece mounts. I would like something around the the >$60 range and preferably a red/green dot scope. I'll be shooting roughly 25-30 yds.

Thanks in advance. I know absolutely nothing about scopes.

A 2-7 magnification X32mm adjustable objective lense is all you need. Mildot.

^X2.... good choice for that gun... make SURE you buy a scope with an Adjustable Objective (AO) so that you can focus at close ranges, 10 yd. or less....

Definitely a scope with an AO, and anything over 6 power might be a bit much given such a low powered shooter unless you are really trying to get some target accuracy out of it. I have a 4x on mine and 25 yards is about my biggest stretch, and at that distance I'd have no problem with taking a shot on a sparrow. Just $.02

My only Crying or Very sad

is the cross hairs. They could be thinner... at under 30 yards... it's fine... but out at 100+. they defo are too thick.

Up close "Wet Work" on whistle pigs or ground squirrels.... Through the eye shots... no prob. Get em' when they wink at ya from their hole...

Ooooops... I shouldn't answer questions before morning coffee...

Please re-think your mounting situation. There is a big disadvantage keeping the stock plastic breech and using the clamp on mounts. Too much movement with the added weight... Trust me... your won't be happy down the road.

You will want to spend the $30+ on a steel breech kit from Crosman or a custom aftermarket with dovetails for mounting your scope.

Before you install it...
Add one more set screw to lock the barrel in.

^X2 on the steel breech and a proper set of rings.... Medium height are fine on a scope up to 40mm....

It's fine to just have a scope,
to really go off the deep end you'll need to mod that gun every way

Hey what part of Wisco you from? I'm right between Madison and Fondy.

I'd have to go with the steel breech recommendation as well. I tried to mount a scope on the barrel with the plastic breech and there's just nothing holding on to it, the barrel will rotate a little bit either way from putting pressure on the scope. The steel breech has set screws that holds onto the barrel better, plus the dovetail is very convenient

THey are right on the steel breech. I have one on my custom 2300 and my 2400 and they are definitely the way to go compared to my old 2240. I haven't done the steel breech on that yet and I can really tell a difference.
