this is a shooting bench i started today. after this primer dries i was thinking of covering the top with carpet and painting the frame flat black. this project cost me 0.00 dollars! i had the scrap wood laying around and all screws and glue needed. benefits of being a carpenter.  it takes me 45 min. to commute to the range for my powder burners so i figured i might as well shoot at home in comfort. looking forward to enjoying it next spring.  i love working on new projects so i thought id share. aim small-miss small. walt.

Cool! I just bought a Benjamin Trail NP XL in .22 and built a quite pellet trap.
I went to set up in the backyard and found that I didn't have anything to rest the rifle on.
I ended up sitting on step stool and resting the rifle on a TV tray, no bueno!
I think I'm going to have to try and make a rest for myself
How did you decide how high to make the table top? |

| DANG ! That IS a nice bench..I too like tinkering with stuff (just about anything!) but wood working is the one thing I don't seem to do very well at....I am envious of your skill..very simple, but looks well built and PRACTICAL...and F R E E !!! |

Its exactly what we need , here.
I was going to try my hand at building one for the boy and I, but with winter coming on, I'm told I need to remodel the tack room, winterize the house, build a horse shelter, and throw in a hog pen "when I get time."
Jeez

 @ Dusty; I just finished winterizing my house. I put in new windows, insulated the attic, and insulating all of my hot water lines in the basement. I am thinking about blowing more insulation into the walls. I don't know how well that will work yet though. |
