Hi everyone,
New here, and looking for some opinions. We've been having visits from Racoon, squirrel and now a grey herron just cleaned out my Koi pond, so I'm not a happy camper.
I'm looking for something to use, from my upstairs bathroom window, which would be about a 40 to 50 ft shot. I owned a couple daisy airguns when I was a kid - one was Co2 driven and was nice, except how quick it lost its punch. The other was the good old fashioned "cock the gun in half and roll a BB down the barrel.
I'm thinking I'd like something that could fire multiple pellets quickly - I'd hate to have just ONE shot at ridding my yard of these pests. Or would a scope be the best thing?
Also for that distance, what is a good FPS to rid me of these pests? I'm also concerned about noise - is there a way to reduce the noise so neighbors don't hear?

The squirrel won't take too much of a hit.... it's probably illegal to shoot the Heron.... Don't even try the raccoon at that range unless you have a gun in the 30 FPE range in .22 cal or bigger.... My preferred load for urban raccoons is a .22 rimfire CB Cap.... they are about 36 FPE and VERY quiet.... much quieter than any air rifle....

| Get a .25 Marauder and remind everyone who's neighborhood it is. Everyone that gets hit with a pellet anyway, nobody else around will even know you're shooting. |

 Be prepared to lay some cash out if you go for the marauder though. I like my walmart special storm XT for the little animals. the raccoon is a definite no-no. The CB 22 is pretty quiet. I wouldn't be comfortable with it, but then I have neighbors that call the cops on me for any chance they get. I do have a scanner though so I know when they are headed my way.  |
