Have about 350 rounds thur the new RX2 .22. I think I have found the sweet spot on how it likes to be held and fired.
Thursday I will have my sample pack of pellets. At what yardage should I shoot at to find what the gun likes best??
Should I do it at 20 yds. were I want to Zero the scope at?? I have learned so must for the short time I have been on this forum. I don't think their is a question a person could ask, and not find a ansewer here. Thanks for all the HELP you have given this OLD newbie.

| If you're gonna zero the gun @ 20 yards, then checking shot groups at the same distance makes sense to me......YMMV |

The pellets that are most accurate in my Slavia 631 indoors are not the most accurate at 25 yards outdoors. I agree with packrat - test the pellets under the conditions that you intend to shoot most frequently. |

I find that once I have a gun well tuned and it's balance points figured out there is usually a half dozen possible kinds of ammo that will produce a ragged hole at 10m. I know I often puzzle over which ragged hole is the smoothest for hours.
When I stretch the range to 20 or 25 m The group spread becomes a little more obvious as does firing ten rounds instead of five.
And to support what Slavia said, if the gun will spend it's entire life firing match ammo at 10m then stay at that distance because match will behave much differently at longer ranges. Specifically it's ballistic coef causes it to shed velocity very quickly beyond 10m.
However having said that the Mrs and I were on the ice two days ago testing her Quest at ranges out to 75m using Crosman premier match and firing on a soup can...It was fun hearing the "clink" a full second after the shot went off. |
