sandbags off the bench without forward hold are best.
that one is on my wishlist btw. |
The bipod and scope are not coming with the gun. Even if it were I would remove it. I'm too fat and old to lay on the ground to shoot. Never have liked prone shooting. |

Still a sweet set up! I used to have the black one and I did use it with a bi-pod. It worked pretty nice actually. |

It looks to me like the bipod is attached to the stock. If so would it still effect the rock and roll since (I think) the barrel is floating? |

A springer needs to "dance" on it's own.
you know, like a drunk chick at a party.
let her do what she wants and she will hit your target.
no weight or hold on the forward part of the rifle. |

If I understand you correctly you are saying the weight of the bipod would reduce the movement? |

I used to use a "loose" bipod, so the gun could move around.
There's another reason why you don't want to use any spring powered sidelever while lying down. Your arm won't be able to make it all the way back to cock it. |

I believe it would. the way I shoot springers is with the front
of the stock resting on an open hand. no hold at all. |

I have not tried it but the Tech Force 58 has a ratcheting feature (you can cock it part way and change hand position and finish coking) that the manufacture says is supposed to make it easier to cock while in the prone position. |

Well, maybe it's possible with that particular rifle, it seems to have a shorter cocking arm. |

Well my new to me RWS 48 arrived this morning. The scope arrived on Monday and the pellets got here Yesterday. I'll get scope mounted tonight and snap a pic or two. Should get it sighted in tomorrow morning. Hopefully the targets will be worthy of a pic as well. |

sounds like fun. i guess the cold and snow has scared away all my squirrel targets of late. no one at the bird feeder and i have been looking often. when they show they are going to get it. |

One more thing, it's pretty hold sensitive. So you really wanna shoot it. A lot. It's not like riding a bicycle. |

| Ok guys I got the sweet little 48 sighted in this morning. I was in a hurry and running about 2 hours behind but I just HAD to shoot the gun at a target. I grabbed a box of cphp's and set a target at 10 yards. Propped up on the toolbox of my welding trailer and commenced firing. Bout 6 shots later I was ragging out a hole and one happy camper. I fired 2 more three shot strings and got two more ragged holes. I didn't measure any of the groups since I was in a hurry but none of them were over 3/8 inch. Not great by many standards but dang good to me. Especially considering I didn't focus the scope and was propped up on a metal toolbox with a new gun. Sorry that I did not take pics. I will make up for it next week when I get home and can take some time to fire this amazing gun from a bench. As it is now there is no legal game or varmint safe near my house. Yeehaw! |
