hello all. im looking for good advise on which scope would be best for a springer. i mostly target shoot with the occasional squirrel. my ranges will most likely be from 20- 100 yrd. max. i was hoping to find a nice scope for around 200.00. does that exist? i have a quality one piece high mount so just need the scope. my leapers glass has been knocked loose from recoil so i need a better solution. Crying or Very sad

please help with any and all advise. Rolling Eyes

My thoughts, considering the 100 yard range you mentioned, would be to be sure the scope has mil dots so you can adjust your aim point for various distances.

Plus, zoom would be helpful for those varying distances as well.

if the leaper didn't work try centerpoint or hawke.
3-9x40 is all you need in a springer.
50-60 yards is long range for your 97k.

I have a cheap centerpoint 3-9x32 on my b-26 (same power as your gun)
and have had zero problems with any poi shift.

If you don't have one get a one piece mount.

Leapers generally hold up to medium recoil springers - like your HW97K so maybe you got a dud or a model that isn't so good for a springer.
Center Point and Leapers are roughly the same.
Check out the scope ratings here, and chose one you like with medium or greater recoil rating...

During my research I spoke with Bushnell. I own several on my powder burners so I can testify to their quality and toughness. The Bushnell engineer told me that all of the Banner line was airgun rated. All of the new Trophy XLT line is airgun rated. I have owned both of these and had no problems. Matter of fact I have a Trophy XLT 4-12 x 40 AO on the way for my RWS 48. $142 from Natchez Shooter Supply. Plus Natchez is offering a 20-50 Bushnell spotting scope for free with the purchase of the riflescope. For about $250 you can step up to the Elite 3200 4-12x 40 AO model number 324124. The bushnell guy told me this was one of their toughest airgun scopes. I chose the Trophy XLT only because it was a hundred less money. The Elite and Trophy series has an unconditional over the counter lifetime warranty.
My wife works in customer service for one of the largest scope distributors in the country. They sell over 20 brands of scopes. Bushnell is one of their top selling brands and she says they get less Bushnells back than any other.

Airguns aren't powderburners. Springers can destroy scopes that cost over 3000 bucks and are ment to be put on large caliber rifles.

I tried my bushnell banner on a springer. it wouldn't hold zero
at all. I keep it on my ruger 10/22.

I have heard though that the trophy line is springer rated.
