Hi,
I've been out of the air gun hobby for a long, long time (25 years ago I had a crossman pumpmaster 770).
I just bought my kid a Red Ryder and now I want one for myself.
I plan on joining a local field and stream club where they have an air riffle range and the guys there like to try to split cards, so I don't want to look like an idiot with a total piece of crap, but money is an issue,
I'd like to come in under 250 but 100 would be great.
I want something that is fairly accurate and good for target shooting at the club and puttting holes in tin cans in the back yard with the kid.
I want .177 and don't need to hunt with it (plenty of other guns and bows for that).
I want something reliable, that's the most important.
I'd like it to come with a decent scope and scope mounts AND iron sites if possible.
I can't afford the Beeman R series rifles, but I really like the Beemans, I shot one a few years ago a friend had and really liked it. I saw some cheaper Beeman's on web sites. Thoughts?
What about the Remington's, they seem to make a $100 and $200 model?? Is the $200 twice as nice?
The RWS's look good, but I heard their scope mounts suck and move.
Any direction would be great, I'm lost.
Thanks |

the crosman storm-xt comes scoped. decent value.
rws d-34 is the holy grail around here (one I don't have).
it comes in different combos.
both put out 14-15 FPE (foot pounds of energy)
enough power for bodily injury/property damage. (kids considered)
if you can go higher with $$ skip the storm.
BTW! welcome! |

Diana 34 if you want a springer.
The 'Dan is also a great pick for a pumper. Mine (from 1977) shoots better than I can. Never tried any other pellet than cylindricals, but even then it piles them up at 10 yards. |
