Hi all,
New member already needing help
I changed the seal of my Diana 31 Panther with a Maccari Tesla large seal.
The seal is a bit to large for the tube, so resizing is required.
How do i do this ?
Thank you. |

When I used his large seal for my D34, it was slightly large.
I just put it in carefully and it was a great success. Likely, the tight fit ensures a good seal and longer life. |

First tip: Use Vortek seals, not Maccari.
Second tip: If there's no way to get it to fit "as is" you are going to have to sand it down. The simplest and most accurate way is likely to hold it up against a belt sander as it turns, and allow some resistance, but still some turning of the seal in whatever fixture you are holding it (i.e. a rod of some sort). |

I can't imagine somebody supplying a seal that is obviously too large for the gun they say it is supposed to fit.... Sounds like the height of laziness (ie can't be bothered carrying more than one size) to me....

| Funny enough- I was looking at the newest seals for the Diana products offered by this vendor, and they look strangely like Crosman Quest/Phantom seals- as in almost identical twins. The really odd part is that the newest Crosman seals have been getting made out of this clear-style polyurethane recently as well. What are the chances a Chinese manufacturer and Maccari's supplier have both changed to this in the very recent past if they are two totally different manufacturers? |

Thank you, i sanded the seal down from 28.60mm to 28.40mm.
I'll wait to reassemble the rifle until the moly paste i have on order arrives.
I'll consider vortek for the future, since i have found they have a retailer in sweden. |

I have been playing around with making my own seals...
having trouble fineding the right urethane...hard enough to machine
but soft enough to seal...
Tryed Shore 60A..felt hard in bar form but once machied to
seal size was very soft... I have some Shore 95A coming
to see how it works.... May have to look at Shore D urethane..

| I believe most seals are likely 70 durometer, but I don't know if an 'A' or 'D' shore rating. |

Eric..70D?..I would say you are prob not to far of base there...
Shore is the surname of the guy that came up with the
durometer scale...
Heres a very easy/ simple graph of the derometer scale
that relates the hardness to more readaly known items...
