Target to download and print: Week 124; Nov 8 > Nov 21/2010
THIS IS A FORTNIGHTLY TARGET, SHOOT ANY TIME IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS
EVERYONE WELLCOME
1)Print to full-size on an A4 or 8.5"x11" sheet of paper.
2) Shooting distance is 5m/16.4ft for pistols.
3) Shooting distance is 10m/32.8ft for rifles.
3a) The rules for shooting 5m or 10 m are that the distance from the target to the firing line should be 10m for rifle and 5m for pistol.
All shots, from whatever shooting position must be made with the competitor wholly behind the firing line but able to touch it.
Basically the shooter should be behind the line but the part of the gun not being held by the shooter can protrude past the line.
4) All targets to be shot standing
5) Any sighting device may be used.
6) NO rests or steadying aids are allowed.
7) 16 shots total, two at each target. Up to 5 sighting/practice shots not on the clock using the Green
8) 15 minutes total time (take whatever amount of time for each shot you like, but at 15 minutes-stop!).
9) Scoring is as marked on target. Only two hits per target counts. Maximum point count is 160.
10) Entries need to be scanned or photographed and posted. Please list gun, pellet, sighting device and total time expended.
11) You can enter using both a pistol and a rifle as separate entries, only one entry for each, but all rules must be followed.
12) Score your own target. Winner and Runner-Up will be verified by board officials.
13) An honourable contest for sport- to lie or cheat, is the only real loser. Please keep it above-board!
14) Each competition runs from Monday to Sunday. Your entry must be posted in the forum no later than 23:00 GMT Sunday.
15) These rules are for this week's shooting competition and may change for others
Please make sure that the blue border is visible on your entry, plus the green dot is 12mm diameter on A4 paper.

OK I'm gearing up and have a few questions. My gun hasn't come in yet but I expect to break it and me with these competitions.
Can the targets you us for these competitions be used with this?
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Crosman-BB-Pellet-Air-Soft-Target-Trap/4840335
I also bought a tin of 500 Crosman 22 14.3 hollow points to start with. These may not be the best for target shooting but it's all they had at Walmart last night. I figure I got a lot of breaking in to do and any decent pellet will do?
That's where I saw the pellet trap too.
This may not be the right place for these questions but for me their about getting ready to shoot your targets. |

No, the targets have to be printed on 8.5" x 11" paper and that trap is smaller.... I guess you could move the target around on it but there is no margin for a miss, either....

That's what I needed to know. Thanks. No problem. I'll stuff some paper in a box for now. |

Scraps of carpet in a box work well from what I've heard.... I use a stack of magazines about 2" thick, backed with a piece of plywood.... OK if you change it often enough.... Messy though!....

Any thoughts on the pellets I have. I figure it's not too important for the first 500 shots or so? |

Not the best of pellets for anything, when they run out get something useful.
It does depend on what you want to shoot, for target shooting use wad cutters ( flat ended pellets) and for general purpose Domed ones. All the rest, hollow point, pointer, and anything else is for specialised shooting.
For general purpose at a reasonable cost try RWS Super domes and RWS Hobbies for target shooting.

So is everybody shooting till they get a best score??? LOL just dropping by as I haven't shot in awhile and will try to pull out a gun and see how rusty I got after all this time.
Actually been shooting targets at 50 and 100yds approx while camping at beer cans...lots of fun and had to resight every rifle I took out with me for that distance more or less. Fun times. |

I have not entered this competition in a long time. I hope to do more shooting this winter than last. The green dot came out at 10 mm. I will have to relearn how to print.
Air Pistol: Steyr LP1, Pellet: Beeman Finale Match, Iron sights, one hand, 10 minutes. Score: 139x160

Late entry and hopefully you will get more folks shooting next time. I recently got a rifle and am still getting used to shooting again. (It's been a few decades!) I hope I scored OK, clear on the line I went to the greater number, fuzzy on the line I went to the lower. Correct me if I'm wrong on this. Thanks.
