I am going to install at least one barrel band on my 22 discoi.
The bands came in today, but they didn't have the little screws.
I am going to order them probably from McMaster-Carr. I believe them to be 8x32 x.125.
What configuration would I need for the end of the screws that touches the barrel? |

That is the correct set screw size.... Most will be "cup point" which will work fine but leave a mark on the barrel....
Why do you want to install more than one barrel band?.... I actually find my Disco shoots better if I leave the upper setscrew slightly loose so that the barrel can move.... I read somewhere that as the pressure in the main tube changes it can actually change length slightly and bend the barrel up and down.... That seems consistent with the problem I noticed originally with the first shots being high and the POI dropping as the pressure decreased.... It doesn't do it as much with the barrel band able to slide slightly on the barrel.... I used blue loctite to prevent the screw from coming loose.... Just touching the barrel worked the best for me....

Thanks for the reply!
What my game plan is......is to install my first barrel band about an inch behind the muzzle brake. The bottom screw (1st try) would be tight and the top screw barely touching.
As you so well put...this would allow the barrel to move forward and back but would minimize oscillations. I am hoping that this would do the trick. I may have to try different pressures on the top screw and possibly some different placement (slightly forward or back) of the band.
I ordered two bands, because they were so cheap and I thought if push comes to shove (accuracy wise) I may want to install a band just ahead of the pressure gauge.
