Hello Gentlemen:
I would like to re-crown the muzzle on my Crosman Phantom as I think it could stand some improvement. My question is; Has anyone ever removed the front sight from a Phantom and if so how did you do it? I know there are methods like cutting it off, but if possible I would like to keep it intact.

Piece of wood against the back of the sight and tap it off with a hammer....

| Holding the sight in boiling water for a few minutes helps. My Quest sight slid right off after trying that |

It almost slides right off without doing that. The thing you accomplished with this was using hot water as a lubricant, nothing more- but with alot more potential for problems (spills, rusting the rifling, etc.) |

Hello Gents:
Tried the wooden block method and it worked like a charm. There is a ramp machined on the barrel which works a registration mark for the sight so if removed it will fit back more or less where it came off. There is also a small amount of glue which holds the sight on which is easily removed with acetone with no harm done to the bluing. Thought I'd share this experience in case anyone is comtemplating doing the same. I only wanted to remove it because in this instance it was a redundant structure in light of the fact that the gun is equipped with a scope.

| Glue? That's a new addition. Perhaps some front sights were falling off all by themselves! |

| I like using low 'powered' (read magnification) scopes, and when I put a silencer/muzzlebreak/cocking break on it, it likes to get in the way too. But then again I don't mind it that much. |

I assume it was glue where the sight contacted the machined ramp on the barrel. It could have been hot melt glue, but it did not have the consistancy of same. I did two guns and both displayed the same "glue" spot.
