Not to ask whats wrong with a flat tire or anything but I have tried to find info on gamo pellet rifles without success. Are they not very good? Please don't bash on my ignorance I just don't know. I am looking to buy a pellet rifle; have about $300 to spend; have heard that the Diana 34 is a great gun; went to Bass Pro Shops and the only gun there that I really liked was a Gamo Big Cat, because it felt balanced and lightweight. If Gamo should be out of the question then is the 34 balanced well; I never dreamed there was an aftermarket for pellet rifles, but I guess its like anything else; do you need to do alot to a 34. WHAT WOULD YOU BUY IN A SPRING PISTON AIR RIFLE THAT IS WELL BALANCED AND NOT TOO HEAVY AND WILL HOLD UP FOR A LIFETIME? Thanks for the help!

Hey Cowroy..and welcome!
Personally I'd go with the 34.Great gun...you can also take a look at the Ruger Airhawk..if you want to save some cash.It's a well made 34 clone.I owned a Gamo whisper,and I can't say anything bad about the gun itself. However I can't support Gamo though..due to unscrupulous marketing tactics.There is a-lot of hype surrounding Gamo products,that I feel gives the sport of air gunning,a negative spin.The video of shooting a hog with the PBA ammo actually caused me to sell the gun.

That should have NEVER been attempted,and that leads me to believe Gamo is just out for the sales,while throwing ethics,and "real world"situations to the wind.They seem to promote velocity,as the do all,and end all of air guns,and that is totally misleading,as best performance of air gun pellets VS.bullets,are like comparing apples,and oranges.

Nobody's going to bash on you here...this is a great site with a fine group of people who share their experience... Cool

gamo's aren't the worst. we all here just hate they're marketing.
i have one with a GRT trigger. a new trigger is a must.

as for a lifetime- no spring gun lasts a lifetime.

mainsprings only last for thousands not hundreds of thousands
of rounds. velocity drops over time and springs
breaking-even into many pieces is common with age.

i would advise going with a brand and model you can easily
find parts for once it breaks. it will.

i don't have a D-34 but they seem to be the holy grail
around here. a lot of parts can be found.

to go top shelf your looking at a beeman/HW
RWS or airarms. that's $500+ range tho'.

i personally like .22 over .177 but have several of both.

Well by "last a lifetime" I meant that has readily available parts if something were to wear out. I am going to get a D34 panther. It seems like a good fit for for what I tend to do, and just simply have a lot of fun. I used to live miles away from civilization and I could basically shoot whatever whenever I wanted to. My dad and I had a 300yd range set up with a bench and targets at 10, 20, 30, 40 yards for Archery, 50, 100, 200, 300 yards for Guns. Now not being able to afford to live so far out, and having so many other houses around I am afraid to shoot anything except my bow and maybe a 22LR.

Don't waste your time with the others.

By the way, the D34 isn't the only gun which fits your criteria, but they will cost far more money.
