That's just BS. My 9 year old son has a laser tag game and it's easy to hit zero every time. Let's see him do it with a nerf gun at the same distance. That takes everything out of the sport. Wind correction, adjusting the sights, all of it. You could permanently mill that sights in and set up the laser perfectly in a lab and never have to calibrate it again. You could also set up the trigger for absolutely no movement, and just be a simple 2 oz squeeze. THis is just so wrong for this sport, it's not funny.

It's rediculous.... but I guess it's viewed as a natural progression.... I can see this spreading to Biathlon.... Didn't they use .22 rimfire and before that centerfire?... I mean after all, the sport came from Scandanavian Army Training....

I wonder if a snowflake on the lense of the laser would diffuse the light enough to guarantee a hit.... or worse, a miss.... Rolling Eyes

I can see it now.... millions spent on developing a laser with the maximum possible angular spread under the rules....

Bob they still use 22 rimfire around me. THey are considering to going to .177 in my 4-h group, but so far it's still .22.

They had to do something to the sport to make it legal in England. Their own shooting team has to train out of country due to there gun laws. The constables don't even carry. Just a whistle and a billy club.

They should only hold the Olympics in countries where no laws will disturb the traditional way of performing an event. London should pass an exception to the rule only for Olympic contestants.

I'd be okay with it if they make it another discipline.

It seems pretty accurate too. Would be definitely be cool, but then ammo costs come back into it.

And how do they figure that this laser gun will be cheaper? I would think all the precision engineering between the two weapons would be a wash, but the laser module would make the gun more expensive, as pellets are rather cheap.

Bleh, even competition between brands would be completely wiped out. You just need one rig an then you're pretty much done.

Good way to guarantee the death of the sport in my opinion.
It seems with all the advertising, both at events and in magazines that the ammo manufactureres provide a lot of sponsorship money.
Wonder who's going to make that up?
