This is my new baby. she is a 100 lb st. bernard. She's underweight right now because she is a stray for the last 2 weeks and she is about 15 to 20 lbs shy. That and I had to shave her because I couldn't get all of the burrs out of her coat.

They found her trapped in a storm drain and the original owner didn't want her back so they called me because I have a good thing going with big dogs. Her Name is Ivy and she responds to it very well. She loves to be hugged and climbed on by the boys and she loves all the attention she gets from my wife and I and our other two dogs.

She is housebroken and partly trained. ( she know sit and liedown well) She has been a very good dog and she has taken up with my wife. My 9 yo boy loves her and wants to train her even more, so if somebody knows a good book I can tell him to read it would be very helpful.

the best part is when they realize they're home.
all 5 of our dogs (4 living) started as fosters.

we can't foster anymore. Embarassed we keep keeping 'em. Rolling Eyes

Good for you for rescuing a dog a lot of people would probably pass up.

My wife and I just got our first dogs. Since they are our first pets together, we wanted puppies so we could get the whole experience of training them from scratch and everything. The ones we ended up getting are brothers who were rescued from the side of the road, somewhere in Arkansas. When they were found, they were only 5 pounds each and were covered in infected flea and tick bites. They were in much better condition by the time they made it up to us and are very healthy and very happy now. When we talked about getting a dog, we really did not want to get more than one but when we saw the picture of the two of them together we knew we couldn't separate them. There's Oscar and Charlie together and Charlie chilling out in the pool.

dawe!!!!!! Can't stand living in this house all by myself. Lost my dog to pancreatic cancer in '06, cat went from cancer in the intstines jan '09 and mom lost her battle with cancer in oct '09. This place is creepy/lonely without anyone/something lese to talk to. And sorry, talking to plants ain't cutting it!

I know what you mean Jaxom.

I lost my S.O. to cancer in 93, my mom to cancer in June 09, and my dad to a broken heart 9 weeks after my mom.

As soon as I get settled, getting another dog, prob a cat too, keeps the mice in house in check. Love having tropical fish, more entertaining then the ol' boob tube! And the acting is 10x better!!!! Have tossed around getting a lizard or perhaps a pack of ferrets. Ex said I'd never see her or our daughter EVER if I got anything that has more then 4 legs. So centipeeds, tarantuala's, scorpions, are all out.

What she don't know is the chickens, and rabbits and other farmette animals I'll have! LOL

Iguanas are a cool pet...a buddy had one that used to hang out on the couch with us while watching football etc...it was huge.. Cool I also had a girlfriend that had ferrets...be warned.....they get into everything, and will pilfer any shiny object you have laying around..."weird"and stash them in the strangest locations. Not to mention they love to chew phone, and computer cords like no tomorrow...... Rolling Eyes
The girlfriend was hot....so I had to deal with the ferrets..... Razz
Hey is that one of my ferrets under the covers or are you just happy to see me???...You know how it goes... Wink Mr. Green

Yeah she doesn't realize she's home yet. She is starting to show habits though on climbing under the table to sleep, etc. All in all a fun dog.
