I have a crossman BB pistol i bought to eliminate a ton of rats on my property. I have found tho that BB's just don't have the needed impact needed for rats. I need a quiet gun so as not to freak out the neighbors. But i need some power because i don't like wounding them and knowing they will run off and have a slow horrible death. They're only out at nite too, so i need one that has a under barrel mount for a laser dot sight like on my crossman. I also want a bare minimum of 400 FPS with pellets. (some shoot BBs and pellets but the FPS listed is for BB's and pellets are slower) Accuracy is a must too obviously. my crossman BB pistol can shoot 2" groups at 20+ feet not counting any flyers, so i really don't want a pellet gun that can't do at least a bit better than that.
So....
1)-accuracy
2)-400 FPS minimum
3-must shoot pellets
4)-under barrel laser mount
5)-reasonably good amount of shots per cylinder
6)-no issues like misfires, (firing air with no pellet) jamming, parts that break/don't work right
7)-semi auto/repeater. Single shot won't do for my situation
Seems like a fair expectation, but i have looked at everything and few if any seem to fit those requirements judging by specs and reviews. Closest i seem to have found is the daisy 617x, but no laser mount. Any thoughts? |

Welcome to AirgunHome Deadrats.
The best bet for you is a Crosman 2240 .22 Co2 single shot pistol, you can get a mount for a laser sight to fit on the trigger guard or ontop of the barrel, this pistol will give you around 450fps Idwal for ratting.
Most multi shot Co2 replica guns only manage around 350 fps and are not very accrate.

| Ahh, i forgot to list that as a requirment ! I need a repeater due to the scenarios i always encounter with these rat in this particular enviornment. I rarely get a single solid shot off at a rat just sitting there. W/O going into detailed explanation, i need to be able to fire several shots w/o reloading for a number of reasons. So while i know that gun you mentioned is good, a repeater/semi auto, even tho not as accurate or strong, is better for my situation. So i need to find one that will fit my requirments. I will edit the post to reflect that, sorry. |

Thanks for the welcome...the both of you...
Gonna see what i can do tonite with the crossman BB C11. I guess theres really nothing out there thats going to fit my needs. I've looked at every co2 at pyramid and they all either don't have a laser mount or don't have the velocity needed, or have some issue according to the reviews. I don't enjoy the thought of wounding them tho, so i really need to find something. |

ltich - deadrats, or whatever you want to call yourself today, they don't make an airgun that you are looking for. But you probably already knew this from all the advice given in the hunting forum.
Well I'm done, I've better things to do then deal with a dim wit teenager. |

| Ok, last nite i had two run off again after having definately hit them. I may just have to go with the 2240, as i can't find anything else thats decent let alone .22, and with that gun i will just have to take only the sure shots. This will eliminate many chances at a shot, but at least when i do get a clear shot there will be no running off to die. theres just one problem i cannot get past in order to make up my mind to buy the 2240....the laser. It doesn't have provisions for one and unless there is an aftermarket accessory that allows attachment of a under barrel laser i can't consider this gun. Does anyone know of a device like that? |

Daisy makes a laser that attaches to the trigger guard. I don't see how a laser is going to help you see though. A laser will only help you know you are aiming at what you see. a flashlight may if bright enough light the area and possibly cause the rat to freeze long enough to get a good shot. |

There are some options for an under-the barrel-laser, such as a trigger-frame mounted unit: http://riflescope-shop.com/UnitedStates/store/product_info.php?products_id=277 |

Actually i already have the laser but i was hoping theres seperate mount only you can by. as to the use, the one i have make nite shooting so much easier. I have a flashlight taped to it too, so i see this big lit up stage area with a rat in the middle and a red dot on hi. Works incredibly well. They are never out at nite or else i wouldn't need it. But the laser is not only extremely good for this, but ver fun !
Anyways, if anyone knows of a mount only let me know. At abotu probably $25 for that one linked after shipping i supposed that would be ok, but i'd prefer to use the one i have now just because i know it works great and would hate to buy a different one just because of the mounting only to find i don't like it as much or it has issues. So i'll wait till i see there are no other options first. Thanks. |

Deadrats....and to all members here. I do sincerely apollogize for my previous comments. I had incorrectly assumed that becuase both Deadrats and Litch were the same poster trying to mess with the forums. I only based this on that they both had idenical requirements for what type of ag they were looking for.
What I should have done was 1)kept my big mouth shut and not posted any stupid comments as I had made. 2)informed Eric that I suspected a game being played so that he could determine what actions should be taken.
I feel even worse, because only a few short days ago, I had posted a comment in the BS forum that stated we should all learn to re-read our posts before hitting the enter button to submit our comments to the forum. I need to learn to take my own advice it seems.
Deadrats, again, please forgive my comments. And welcome to AirgunHome.
Eric, I wish to apollogize to you as well, it is not my job to monitor the forums. It's your website, and you've been doing a most excellent job, I should have done as I said had I suspected any issues.
And to the rest of the forum members I wish to apollgized to you as well. You should not have had to read junk like I had posted.

Heya
I've found my PX4 Storm to be very effective at putting down the rats. Perhaps you might want to have a look at it for your use.
cheers

No problem, i understand how that is.
ellodrith.....i looked at that one actually and was considering it. Then i read the reviews and i cannot recall exactly what it was, but there was some issue people were citing...inaccuracy or something....don't quite recall. It's hard to know what to believe in the reviews, but some things scare me off like accuracy issues or guns that will sometimes not feed a pellet and shoot air every so many pulls. |
