I love my TX200 to bits and enjoy bench shooting, but the problem with a Springer is the recoil on firing and the bigger the flb the more it kicks. Now when shooting hand held the flexibility of the grip absorbs the kick, and provided you hold it the same each time the shot should be on target.

So when shooting from a bench you need something to rest the gun on while firing, this needs to be shock absorbent, flexible and allow the gun to move, I have tried many things over the years and the best so far I find is a rolled up towel, until now!

My new bench rest consists of an old scope tripod and a pair of linear motion ball guides, the TX kicks back about ¼” on firing and I find this setup absorbs all the energy by sliding back with the gun, and I get perfect shot placement every time, I just need something to insulate the gun stock from the metal slide, at the moment I use a bit of towelling but intend to make a leather support to finish the job off.

This is the finished unit, and works a treat. I have replaced the cloth roll for a hard rubber V shaped support.

kool use for a few old parts....
now what are the linar berrings & houseing off ?
The look very simular to units used on a rotory
cutter for top and tailing veges/fruit that can
slide in & out for diffrent sizes....
And there happens to be a couple of old sets
at work somewhere..."I will have a dig around"

The bearings I used were off a textile machine Pete, but I’ve seen them on bottling machines and carton punchers, I did think of using a captive wheeled trolley or a swinging link device to get the same effect.

This does work well in fact the best rest I have used, well worth the effort!
