Some people may have noticed over the weekend the website was locked-out or redirected to some pirate webhost.

Seems the host provider (server system) that the website resides on was hacked, successfully, twice between Saturday morning and Monday morning. It also appears that so far today things are very slow. There was no loss of security, it was the service providers index/domain name servers that got violated- nothing specific to this site and no information from this site was released/captured by anyone.

However, as a result, I have decided it is time to change host services. There will be a shift sometime over the next day or two and during this time, the forum will be locked out while the shift is taking place- but it should only last a few hours maximum and there is no expectation that posts made prior to this will be lost.

The new service should be faster and allow for easier expansion if/as necessary in the future.

This is just for the purposes of an "FYI" and nothing to be concerned about.

Depending on how quickly the host provider 'fixed things' and how long it takes a specific ISP to update its connection stats- twice is pretty good. Due to my local ISP I was locked out for the majority of 3 days.

In any event- this will all be resolved soon...

These kinds of things can be remedied by using other dns services on your PC rather than your ISP's. Google runs a DNS service you can tie into with DNS Servers at IP addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

More info can be obtained here: http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/

cheers
Jeff

You can switch for testing easily as well as for everyday use.....

Ah- useful for a workstation-to-server issue, but wouldn't have made this site any more accessible to anyone who hasn't re-done the DNS settings on their workstation. As in, useful to me if a DNS server issue comes up with a/the host provider again- not so useful for everyone else. Good idea nonetheless.
