No man, 6 Fpe is enough to kill a boar, with one shot! I done it at least a 100 times, and they were hog-zillas too!
Gamo stuff isn't really bad. If you can shoot a Gamo you'll probably be able to shoot everything. That being said, the way they advertise is questionable (wild boar video) and they only make two or three models with a ton of different stocks, then there's the hole idea of using plastic sights, the finish on their plastic stocks, several design features, the trigger and the fact that they're slowly lower the quality BSA. These are my experiences, and trust me, I thought of buying a Gamo and I've shot plenty of them.
For Gamo money, you can always get a better gun.
I'm not saying Gamo owners are idiots. I know plenty of shooters who own a Gamo and are more then happy with them. But that's also because they wanted something cheap, easy and inexpensive to shoot, and more importantly didn't really care about what it was, as long as it would shoot. Some will also admit that if they had more money they wouldn't be packing a Gamo.
Great starter rifles though, especially the low powered models. |

| I've been gone a few days and look at all the replies. Thanks for the info. I'm saving my pennies for a Hammerli 850 mag. Looks like a great gun from the research I've done. Marauder looks good too! |

What's wrong...don't you guys ever feel the need to be able to shoot around corners?.......  
I really like shooting 7 inch groups at 25 yards.....   |

gamo is coming out with a big bore springer. .50 cal.
it shoots a 22.89 grain .50 cal pellet at 1875 fps. pba of course.
it will be for anything in north america including dangerous game.
naw. i have 1 gamo. they ain't that bad of a gun.
their marketing is just waaaay redneck unethical.
the type that makes us all look bad. |

Gamo needs to make an all silver pellet good for Werewolf's.The gold PBA's work great on zombies,but I'm getting bored shooting zombies these days....
Sorry I'll shut up now...Gamo does make a decent line of rifles.I had a Whisper .22,and it was pretty good.Sniper is right though...the Gamo marketing tactics are just downright shameful.There was nothing wrong with the Whisper,but I sold it,because I can't,and won't support Gamo's B.S. marketing efforts. |

| I'm Uber pleased with my .22 Walther Falcon with Nitro piston, and its in your price range. I find it to be quite powerful and accurate, but its pretty heavy- over 9lbs- and requires over 50lbs to cock it. Which doesnt bother me cause I'm not a high school girl! |

I can recommend the Marauder over the 850 for just one reason: PCP. Get a good 300 bar airtank and your'e good to go. |

i've personally only owned two types of air guns. first, a crosman 760, a gamo PT80, and now a Gamo big cat 1200...and i gotta say, out of all the guns in it's price range, it's a damn sweet gun for the money. at 30 yards with barracudas i can group sub 2" and i dont have a bench, for me...that's damn good. i've taken chipmunks and squirrels with no problems with RWS supermags, gamo magnums, cudas, CPHP's...etc...
bearing that in mind, i know this is a cheaply made gun. in the future, i definitely plan on buying a sumatra or a discovery...but for general plinking and pest control, gamo is hard to beat for the money IMO. |

i have more rounds through mine in 1 year than my match
springfield M1A i bought back in '99. (though .308 ain't a plinkin' round )
it's that good! dead, i mean DEAD silent. 
dead fleas accurate (pellet picky)
if ya' take out the baffles it is as loud as a a disco.
i want one in .177 and .25.  that'll be post-lotto. |

I have a Gammo Varmint hunter and the two things I did not like were the stock scope and the TRIGGER! Of all the guns Ive shot (air and powder) it
was the worse! did a little research and found Charlie da tuna ordered a GRIII trigger, put that in and solved that problem. Now I'm having scope
problemsI put a Centerpoint 4-16x40AO on it and cranked the windage all
the way to the right and it still shoots an inch to the left! Anyway for the
money and don't look at corney ads the upper end Gammos aren't bad
