argon/co2 shielding gas? since these bottles are filled around 2200-2500 psi. anyone every try this?

You can use pure argon, nitrogen, or helium. Never put oxygen near your guns. I'm not sure about CO2, but probably wouldn't use it.

Compared to air isn't argon much more expensive? What would be the advantage of using other gases over just compressed air?

Availability. I doubt you will find many scuba shops in the middle of farmland. Sure to be a welding shop, though.

Fritz..I have to ask--why would you not use CO2 from one of those HUGE bottles??? Isn't that CO2 the same CO2 that comes in the 12 and 88 gram cylinders that folks use all the time in airguns?

Really, I don't have a logical reason. I just don't like the idea of it. Neutral

You would need to invert the bottle to fill your gun, or run a direct line (be tethered to the tank).
