I wanted them to think through each shot. You can fling quite a bit of lead with a 2240, since you don't have to pump or cock it. A Crosman 1008 is pretty light and has a thin grip (CO2, 8 shots). On the down side, it is almost all plastic and will fail quickly. Skip the Marksman 1010. You can throw the gun with more accuracy and power, and it will just lead to frustration. I've had a couple over the years, and they are junk. I was of the same opinion but out to 15 meters it is quite acculturate. Neither my wife or I use it for paper targets, but we have a small metal target set that gets used all the time and if we use a rest we can hit the 1.5 inch targets every time at 10 to 15 yards. Distance estimated but measured by me pacing it and having measured my pace is 6 paces measure 5 meters measured so when we are out to shoot I set the targets out form 12 to 18 paces from our table. My wife shoots it free hand and hits most of the time out to 7 yards. She get between 45 and 56 shots per CO2 cartridge so the blowback feature doesn't seem to waste that much CO2 either.
