hi have you all herd of the Qb 78?
i am looking to buy some thing like that but i want to know a few things,
it is made in china, does that mean it will not last?
what are some of the specific mods
can you do any valve mods? something like what you can do to the 2240
any power mods
what are the average shots per cartridge 30's?
can i expect much from it or is it just a cheap little gun to fool around with? |

The QB78- which is the model I assume you are referring- is one of the better lower-priced Chinese guns. A number of people here own them and other than a few minor problems, I think the biggest complaint I heard was from Alstone who got one that had metal shavings in the valve- apparently the factory clean-up on that one wasn't good which caused the valve to jam and the gun not to operate.
All the same sort of mods that can be done to any Co² gun can be done to a QB78- and I believe there is at least one "kit" available out there to turn it into a PCP with a higher-flow valve assembly and a reservoir.
As for you other questions- I don't own one- so hopefully someone else can fill you in. I believe these questions have come up before- so look in the Rifles section for posts on the QB78 and you should find more good info. |

| Except maybe for Al's problem- it would be pretty tough to find a gun cheaper to convert to PCP- what are they, $100 now or $140 for the newest 'D' version? |

As Eric said I had a problem with my QB when I got it But it was second hand, It had been hardly used and still had the maker's perservative on it,
and the fault was a piece of brass shaving stuck in the valve seat, I think the shaving had come off the valve when the seat was installed.
The QB is one of the roughest built guns I have ever bought, but after a bit of cleaning, smoothing moving parts off and a good lube it is one of the best guns for general use I have ever had, all problems can be fixed with simple tools and they are easy to do, also there are simply hundreds of spares, kits and upgrades for it plus plenty of sites catering for it.
If you had to buy one Co2 gun to play around with you cannot better a QB.

I think having 145 guns is lauchlin's scheme to make sure they don't get stolen- anyone loading up a cube van full of guns is bound to have the cops called on them! |
