How far they ricochet will depend on what distance pellets are fired from and the FPS and weight of pellets used...along with the angle at which they hit your steel target...if I may-let me just say that having "steel targets", especially indoors, is not the safest approach to take..but if you must, you must! I favor wood, but down heah in Jawjuh, wood is EASY to come by It does cause a few splinters and small, little pieces that will end up in front of targets..If you built a steel trap, where the back part is at an angle (so that pellets are diverted DOWNWARD) , you can design it so you can easily attach/detach 2x6, 2x8, what ever you decide to use..HINT---regular wood, backed by a layer of "treated" 2x8's, will last a pretty loooong time when the front layer (the regular wood) wears "thin" unscrew them, screw on new ones (use small screws to reduce chance of ricochet) and you're all set Works for me, I have mine set-up inside my house at 10 meters.ANOTHER HINT--DO NOT shoot at this with a TalonSS, it does wear out the wood rather quickly using 25.4 jumbo monster JSB's _________________ HEY !! This getting old thing is NOT for sissies...   Posted: Tue Apr 20, 2010 4:13 pm Klaatu Member Joined: 30 Jan 2010 Posts: 49 Location: SE Wisconsin, USA Assembled my silent pellet trap by bolting a 14.25 x 17.5 Homeline steel Load Center stuffed with Gardner Bender electrical duct seal to a 2'x 4' sheet of three-quarter inch thick plywood. Target hangs from magnetic-backed clip on top lip of load center. Duct seal was the most expensive component but effectively deadens pellet noise and prevents ricochet. Pellets are truly trapped. Load center's steel back prevents penetration and bottom ledge catches debris. Dimensions allow wildly errant shots - you can never be quite sure where those Gamo Magnums will strike - and larger targets. Back it up with a plate of thick steel. Your pellets will stick in the lead and when you're trough you can remelt it.
