Hello everyone.
I'm new to airguns, and I have a few questions:
I recently purchased an .177 under-lever air gun rated at 600fps. I love it. It's amazing how accurate and powerful it is compared to other BB guns I've had. I sighted it in today at 75 feet, on iron sights. Very Happy

Anyways, my questions are these;
-I've heard that I shouldn't do too much rapid firing because the mainspring seals and such can overheat and warp, and or be damaged. Is this correct? Is it bad to fire off a shot, turn around, load it, and fire it again several times in a row? Or should I wait any certain period of time between shots for the gun to cool?
-Will it damage my gun or any of it's different components to load it, and then wait to fire it? Like, say, for hunting where I normally would sit for several minutes with my gun loaded?
-Are there any other guidelines that are unique to under-levers and springers that I should be aware of?

Just the artillery hold and the right pellet. It's not a high powered springer you seem to have so I wouldn't worry to much about getting ultra expensive scope mounts and a scope that can be thrown of a cliff.

You should be able to shoot a springer non stop all day without anything going wrong. As a matter of fact, put as much pellets trough it as you can, so all parts work into each other a bit.

What may be the case, is that there's a lot of oil/grease in the gun, and this can sometimes be caused to explode, the effect is called dieseling. Do you experience any burning or smoking from your rifle?

I won't be putting a scope on at all.... I'm kind of old fashioned, and like iron sights: It's more of a challenge.

I do get some smoking from the gun. After I fire several shots in a row, when I cock the gun and the breach opens, there's some smoke, or steam that comes out, and then when I shoot the gun, there's some smoke/steam discharge. Is this a bad thing? It's started doing it a lot less then it did when I first got it, I've put about 250 pellets through it.

Here are some pics of my rifle. I got it at a liquidation sale, and I literally have no idea what make/model it is. I figured it's my first air gun, I'd get a cheap one to experiment with.

Good choice. They're certainly cheap rifles but for a start they're a ton of fun and don't cost a lot. Build like a a tank too, and they'll keep shooting. If you like the accuracy in this, and like the overall look and feel of the rifle, pretty much anything you'll buy from now will be better, which is also a good thing. Mr. Green

It's not steam, it's certainly smoke, from combusted grease. Look around the forum for B3 underlever, or look around on the internet for tips in improving it.

It's made in China and I wouldn't waste money on putting an expensive scope on it, especially when you're using the iron sights and when they work for you, however, you have the most basic iron sights you can get. If this airgun thing will catch on with you, then you'll be surprised how good things can get. Mr. Green

I pretty much started with two chinese rifles too, the B2 models, which are el cheapo break barrels. Still had a lot of fun with em in the past. Exclamation

Uh, I've always been a little of a gun nut. I shoot skeet all the time, with my brother, and I want an air rifle because it's quiet (doesn't bother the neighbors), and because ammo is cheap, and because I heard they're a lot of fun. Razz

Also, I do some pest control, and it's a pain to get out the 30/30 just to get some small animal out of the garden. Shocked

So far it's been a blast. I hope I can make a solid hobby out of air-gunning.

So I've been looking around a little bit for B3 underlever tips. I can't really find much that has to do with dieseling. Does anyone here have any ideas and or tips for fixing dieseling on my B3 underlever?

i have one but i never shoot it. it clocks 550 fps/7.9.

OK. Well, I've got about 500 pellets through it now, and now the smoking has greatly decreased. So there's a chance it'll go away on it's own?
I did find a pretty good take apart walk-through, and eventually, I'll take it apart. Mr. Green
