i can essentailly build a 2300s for about $100 bucks cheaper in either .177 caliber or .22 caliber.

Custom 2300KT: CO2 Pistol

* Base Unit: $45.11
* Barrel - 10.1 Cros (.22) - $7.75
* Muzzle Break Front Sight - muzzle black - $13.50
* Breach and Bolt - Long Steel - $25.77
* Sight and Scope - no sight/ scope - $0.00
* Trigger Shoe - no shoe - $0.00
* Grip - Plastic - $2.85

with a quick aim scope

1x34mm

Red/Green Dot with various brightness settings

Tool-free, finger adjustable windage and elevation dials

Includes lens covers and one-piece Weaver style rings

* 30mm, one piece tube construction
* All-weather angled objective - for the most extreme weather conditions
* 100% waterproof, fogproof and shockproof

it comes to the same price as a 2300s if oredered directly from crosman.

what calibur has the higher velocity and better accuracy? sorry for all the questions, but ive been shooting my 2240 with my 2 young boys (10 & 8) and its getting fun.

Barrels are not the same, 2300S uses a choked barrel, 'Custom guns' do not.

2300 has an adjustable trigger/sear- custom guns don't.

2300 has ad adjustable hammer tensioner- Custom gun doesn't.

Is that worth the price difference? Can't say- that's a matter of someone's personal choice/use of the gun.

ok how would one benefit from a chocked barrel, adjustable trigger and hammer tensioner?

what does a choked barrel do?

A choked barrel is supposed to squeeze the skirt of the pellet slightly just before it leaves the muzzle, adding consistency....

An adjustable trigger allows you to refine the trigger pull (weight and/or travel) resulting in more consistent release and hence accuracy....

A hammer spring tensioner allows you to adjust the velocity and/or CO2 consumption to some degree.... I understand the one in the 2300 is quite good....

Ok so a choked barrel does about the same thing as for a shotgun. I'll Oder a custom and add the adjustable trigger and hammer when I feel like modding it more.

Now what about the caliber? .177 vs. .22?

The .177 has a higher velocity.... the accuracy is little different.... the .22 has more hitting power.... fun on tin cans and the like....

.177 is cheaper to shoot also....

My 2300 custom came with a trigger spring adjustment. They even had to rout the inside of the cocobolo grips to do it. I'll post up some pictures later today.

Was that an option or came standard?

It was standard. I didn't even know it was there until I took my grips off for a good tru-oiling. Smile

Here it is. Like I said, I didn't even know it was there until I popped the grips off to strip and refinish them.

In addition to the trigger adjustment,it looks like Crosman has a new,black trigger with a wider face than the stock brass one on their customs..... Wink

It's a trigger shoe added to the stock trigger. The Crosman Custom Shop lets you build a design with or without one:

You can get the shoe,but they are using an upgraded black steel trigger with a wider face now instead of the brass unit.

My 2300kt came with the adjustable trigger too. Joe asked me about this right after I recieved it.

Another "oddity". The gas tube on my 2300 isn't stamped. Unlike the 2240's tubes.

neither my 2300 or 2400 are stamped. It's some kind of masked bluing. THey say it is laser etched, but there's no difference in texture over the writing.
