Hello. It's me again. On 18FEB10 I used the Benjamin pump and pumped 240 FULL strokes to reach 3,000 psi. I fired only 4 pellets and put the gun away. On 21FEB10@1050 the pressure gauge on the gun is at 2,000 psi. Is this normal? Should it leak THIS much? Thanks for any info you can give me.

it sounds like you have a bad seal.
i don't fill mine past 2200psi.
mine is charged at 2000 psi minimum
24/7. it's never leaked and i've had it
since last year- the week they came
onto the market.

It's possible the seal in the valve may seat better with more pellets through the gun.... I'd use some dish detergent in water and paint it on with a small brush (or the corner of a paper towel) everywhere you can think of that it might leak and look for bubbles.... around the gauge (two places).... the front fill fitting (the end and the threads).... the velocity adjuster screw.... and the transfer port (if you can't get at it, close and lock the bolt and check the end of the barrel instead)....

Make sure you dry everything after so that it doesn't rust.... If it's air coming out of the transfer port (barrel) then run 100 shots through it and try it again.... It may very well be sealed fine by then.... Like sniper, I have PCPs that hold air for months with no appreciable pressure loss....

SO. you ask for info, you get info on things to try, but rather than follow the advice you sked for, you decide to do something entirely different?? Not sure why you asked???? Give it chance...fire it the 100 rounds as suggested, it just might work... Smile

Yeah, I'd hate to go through all the headaches of a return/credit/ and then wait for the arrival of a new one.... Could be as simple as tightening something a quarter turn.

I've heard of others having a similar problem, check the threads up on the foster fitting. Some have had to be resealed. Good luck. Steve

ps. I understand your pissed off, there's probably not a guy here that wouldn't be too, but try some of the suggestions first. Smile

I sat with the guy at Crosman who repairs Marauders under warranty for 2 days earlier this month. As supercharged mentioned, it is almost always the QB fittings threads that are the issue. Empty the tank, remove the fitting, put a layer of teflon tape around it (not hanging over the port opening on the rear side, and reinstall. Chances are better than fair this is the problem.

Thanks for the help. I bought the gun new and it is supposed to be in perfect working order. I'm not going to work on something that I paid good money for. Each and every time you work on a Benjamin Marauder that you bought new you are encouraging Benjamin/Crosman to produce faulty airguns.

That's a load of crap..if you fix it and just stay unhappy that you had to repair a brand new gun, then you are part of the problem..I understand perfectly how you feel , a LOT of us here have faced this same issue...
Fix it first, then sit down and think it out first on what you want to say ...Then as NICELY as you can, you type out what you bought, when you bought it...the whole scenario!
Then in great detail explain what was necessary to correct the problem.. a picture or two might be a good idea as well. Send it to manufaturer, ending your letter with" I look forward to your response". For like one or two dollars you can get send the letter so that it has to be signed for....that way, if you end up calling, you'll proof in hand that you did send a letter and that it WAS recieved, because you have signed proof that they got it Twisted Evil Twisted Evil
YEAH!!! it is a PITA, and you shouldn't have to go through the hassle...but you DO!! So do it with as much class as you can muster, it works better than YELLING AT THEM...if it's a recurring problem, they HAVE to fix it, or they start losing sales and they do not want that..Bottom line is it starts with you. (stepping down from soapbox now Embarassed Embarassed )

Thats lousy advice. Spend your own money to fix a brand new gun and then ask them nicely to say sorry? Ummm... can you say push over?

I think it was good advice. Question does it really matter how you say it as long as you get what you want? Just listen to a police officer they say the nice words but you can here the contempt in their voice. If you make the manufacture mad they will just withdraw for communication and you will get nothing but a broken gun unless you have the money to have your lawyers make them jump through hoops and rise their expenses.

So something like this then?

Thank you for letting me buy your faulty merchandise. I'm sorry that I expected a little quality but since it didnt come with the item that I bought, thats ok. If its not too much trouble for you I'd really like to have a properly functioning product, but only if it doesnt interfere with your profits. I will pay for any shipping or replacement costs to my brand new item to further accomodate your inadequate services in this matter.

I look forward to being screwed over in the future,
Mr.Pushover

You can certainly call Crosman and ask them what they would like you to do. The answer will be simple- send the product back, they will repair and return to you and likely throw in something like pellets or a gun sock for your troubles.

As it is likely to be the 10 second repair that was mentioned, it might be more valuable to the buyer to actually turn the fill nipple a bit to tighten it up. If the problem goes away, he's not lost use of the gun for a week or two- and he can call Crosman and give them a piece of his mind. If this isn't the problem/solution- then he'll be sending it back anyways.

this is why living 5 traffic lights from mac-1 is so cool.
i had a problem with my m-rod. the bolt handle fell off.
i took it back and tim dropped what he was doing and fixed it.

but that's how he treats all of his customers and that's why
i never question his charges on custom work.

but he is a crosman distributor-like- 3rd generation- in the family
so he's married to their products. Shocked
