I could use a hand from Illinois members of agh... Briefly, from 2007 through October of 2009, I had been caring for my elderly mother whom had cancer. Sadly, she lost this battle on October 15th last year.
This has put me in a very awkward situation financially. I wasn't able to work so my credit is shot. My mother didn't have a large life insurance policy either. What little I did get, is already gone. I'm barely surviving on some assistance I recieve from my local township.
Then as I was going through mom's paperwork, I found out that she never signed the will that she had made up. This means I will also loose the home I'm living in right now.
That doesn't really bother me too much, as it has been my intention to eventually move out of the city. This is where I could really use some help from any Illinois members that live in more rural areas of the state.
I've been doing some online job and house hunting and I've seen homes and small farms for sale or for rent at some very reasonable prices. Ideally, I'm looking for a home on a large lot (1-5 acers) for rent OR a small farm (10-20 acers) that I might be able to lease option. I'm also looking for employment as well. I don't mind a commute of 1 hour or less. I've done that here, in the city.
To give you some idea's where I've been looking. I've looked at houses/farmettes around Bloomington, Peoria, Quad Cities (Illinois side) and Rockford.
What's making this hard for me to do, is that I live on the near west side of Chicago. Walking distance to the Brookfield Zoo. Peoria, for example is a 2-3 hour drive for me, I just don't have the money to spend on gas to drive out there unless I have an interview or such pre-arranged.
Any help or assistance doing this would be greatly apperciated!
