I am thinking about purchasing a rifle and have been trying to research Beeman.Looking through old forums I see reference to "droop".Can anyone explain what this is. (I am not refering to the writers physical condition LOL.)
I see that SIR out of Winnipeg seem to have good prices for mail order stuff, has anyone had any experience with this company.

I assume you are referring to "barrel droop". All break barrel spring guns can suffer from this. As the gun is used, the bushings and spring-loaded cam that keep the barrel aligned and upright in the receiver housing wear, allowing the barrel to "droop" downward compared to the action of the gun and the stock. Thus, over time, the gun can get a lower and lower point-of-impact on each shot. If using the gun's stock, barrel mounted sights this won't mean anything as the "droop" will also bring the sights down- i.e. the still "match" one another. Using some sort of optics on the tube of the gun, however, would be affected as the barrel falls further away from being in-line with the scope.

I'm not sure what Beeman you've been looking at- but if it's one of the 'SS' or 'GH' series guns, they are Made in China specials and not the greatest for the money. If we're talking about an 'R' or 'HW' series gun, that's different- they are re-labelled higher-end German products from Weihrauch and Dianawerks.

Look here for an idea of Beeman's business method: http://www.airgunhome.com/agforum/viewtopic.php?t=272

They don't actually build any guns- they re-label others, sometimes with additional features vs. the OEM's unit. That's not to say their higher-end stuff isn't good- it is- but the lower end stuff ('SS' and 'GH' models) is debatable.

If you get a HW50S (get the S, good trigger) then I doubt you will experience droop. If you are still afraid of droop though, go for underlever, or sidelever. Side-lever are often much more expensive though.

Here's an article on barrel droop- although I guess now what I was familiarized with being called "barrel misalignment" is now called "droop" no matter which way the barrel may point (up, down or sideways):

Also- "B.B. Pelletier" is actually Tom Gaylord- don't know why he tries to use a funky alter-ego when writing alot of this sort of stuff- maybe so if/when he's proved wrong he won't take blame directly.
