| My fave part of the olympics is coming up on feb 12th. Men and women's biathlon. This is by and far my favorite olympic event. It take one tough sob to ski for 10 km and have to stop part of the way twice and shoot a rifle. THe men's team actually have a possibility for a medal this year, which will be the first medal in this event ever! It was an event that I would have liked to try many years ago, but I wasn't fast enough on my skis. If you get a chance to watch it, go for it! It's a really cool thing to watch! more info here=http://biathlon.teamusa.org/ |

What could be so tough about biathlon? Well, except for running a marathon in an icebox dressed in spandex, with 2X4's strapped to your feet, an extra weight hanging from your back, and having to instantly drop your heart rate a few times. I'm in:
They do have cardiac care on the course, don't they?
Seriously, watch the event. And look at the thighs on those people (male or female, it doesn't matter). This is not your Dick-Button-in-a-frilly-dress event. |

I say they should combine biathlon with sillhouette shooting, rally and basejumping. |

Slavia, I thought I was the only one who noticed that...
I know the rifles aren't all the same... I want to know who's shooting what! |

| This has a little bit of rules and descriptions. http://biathlon.teamusa.org/pages/552 a little bit about the rifles and who makes them. If you click on the rifle it goes to who makes them for the ameican teams. |

I wonder when we will see Eberle style stocks showing up on 22XX or 13XX guns.
While I do skate through turns, I am a "classical technique" kind of guy. I guess that rules me out of being competetive. Besides, I don't think my limbs bend that way any more:

I found a pretty good pic of the new biathlon guns. at least as far as eberle is concerned.
Aint it pretty in a star wars kind of way?
Here is another place to look for more details. I've been showing them to my son and now he is all hyped up about it.

| I wrote to one of the athlete's website and I have an answer to why they don't list the guns. THey switch and trade parts around, some of the anschutz actions and barrels. or Marlin parts too. The only thing that stays the same is the stock. There are a lot of ways the parts can be configured. Does this sound eerily reminiscent of any of the companies we know? lol Theirs about 4 grand in just rifle parts that you have to have. |
