I'm sort of new ordering air guns and for 2 days straight I bet I've sat on the phone with Pyramyd listening this goofy recording just to be disconnected after each 30 minute wait. It's hard to belive this company is still in business.

Anyhow, I Gave my $800+ order to Airgundepot.com they actually answer the phone and have a good inventory - I saved $48 on the order

Is there any other Air gun shops you guys might recommend?

I just purchased my RWS from Airgundepot.
I phoned in the order and the guy I spoke with was quite friendly and knowlegable. It was my fisrt time buying a pellet gun online.
I would highly recommend them, and would do business with again without a doubt.
I had a tracking number the next business day.
Shipping was free.
The package came packed well.

I don't have a particular beef with Pyramid. I still buy pellets and some little things from them. I was going to buy my rifle from them but decided to call first and ask some questions. First I got a message saying they were all at a meeting during business hours. When I finally "got through" I ended up on hold. After several minutes on hold I hung up and ordered from another dealer. I'm not spending that kind of money with someplace that won't answer my call.

The funny thing is, I got an email customer satisfaction survey from them following a small order. In the comments section, I tried to tell them about my experience. It took me a while to write a well considered message. I hit "enter" and it came back "sorry your message is too long", That pissed me off, but I went back and cut out everything I could without gutting the message completely. Once again "sorry your message is too long". Then I deleted the whole thing and wrote:

Is this short enough? "$#@& You" Faq-U

I buy from PA when they have something marked WAY down or I can't find it elsewhere. I would never buy a big ticket item from them.

whenever i order online from them it's always fast. i have a new rifle and ammo coming friday. i ordered this past sunday.

the only online retailer i've had a problem with AND A BIG F-ING ONE AT THAT is compasseco.

I gave up on phoning just about ANY company for anything...always less than satisfying.here are exceptions, of course. Individuals are a LOT different from a company. I have talked to Roy at Mountain Air, Bryan at B &A, and Mike at TKO Airguns.....all of these guys own the company and they DARE about you getting good service. Call a "company" and ya get some punk-a$$ that could care less, they're just there to get a paycheck. Luckily, in the case of airguns, this site has answered EVERY question I've had so far, so no need for me to call a company..I just go on-line order what I want, pay for it, and in 2-3 days it's delivered to my door. Exceptions to that as well, but in my case at least, I'd rather NOT talk to someone that knows way less than I do about whatever the subject might be..I have had nothing but Excellent service from Pyramyd and Compasseco....Cobra Airguns just plain LOUSY service, no other way to put it!! They are all gonna be less than 100% at one time or another.

The 'problem' with online vendors is that, lets face it, they are not really set-up for telephone use.

If their business model is "online" shopping- communicating with them "online" would make the most sense, no?

The problem of course is that many people still feel better about talking to a live voice- so there should be some accommodation for this- but, let's face it- for most people putting their request or issue into an email or the like is probably more efficient.

Of course, when things like online forms for feedback don't hold enough text to allow proper responses- this is an issue. Perhaps Pyramyd needs to find a focus or proper "model" to follow, not try to play all sides of the board.

I use email alot, but emailing questions is really hit or miss. I can't tell you how many times I've asked 3 questions and gotten answers to 2, or the times that I've asked what time it was in London and the reply comes back with the price of eggs in Tokyo. Half the time they don't even read the email before they whack out a half a$$ reply. Truth is, most of the time if I'm not sure I just buy it anyway and send it back if I don't like it. The more I pay for something, the less proned I am to do that though.

One big reason that I want a phone conversation before I buy an expensive item is to get a feel for where I will be if my new FX Royal comes with a gas leak. I don't want to be 20 minutes on hold with a $XXXX charge on my card. If I can't even get a simple question answered, what are the chances I'll get help with a real problem? It affects my confidence whether the problem is real or not.

To be fair and honest, I have never had a problem with Pyramyd aside from the communication. That has been hit and miss. Plenty good enough for a tin of pellets. The stuff arrives well packed, the orders have been accurately filled, prices are good, and backordered items have arrived pretty close to projected estimates. That's all good. I don't feel cheated at all. I'll continue to do business with them, but when it comes to a rifle I'll spend a little more and buy where I get the consistent personal service I want.

I personally LOVE the internet especially for PAYPAL, EBay, and all online shopping . Hey without on=line we wouldn't have this forum !! To be honest if I had an on-line business it would be 98% internet only. The other 2% would be the twice a day that I checked e-mail, phone messages and made replies as necessary. Those that have to ask a question that has a 99.99% chance of already having been answered on the internet would just be SOL. For example, in the las 2 weeks I have bought a CR2240, a TF6, a MA2250B Carbine, and an NPSS....various sites answered ALL my questions, this site in particular. also bought a chrony and printer, etc,etc,etc. Odered it all via internet. No human commo whatsoever. who needs it? If they don't know the answer to your question, they'll more than likely lie about it , so what the hey??? And like everything else, there will be exceptions to this rule, but not many, at least from my experience. YMMV.

Well, while Online Sales appears to be all "Flufffy and Sweet" in it's concept, I'm not ordering a gun or stuff and sit there for 2 weeks waiting for the vendor to "Drop-Ship" my order from the factory. I want to know it's there!

That's the main problem with Online Sales, Like Ebay, half those morons don't have one cent of inventory, yet they show all this neat stuff at a low price so you order it and wait - What they do is debut your card then order the product and you wait for all this to happen.
Be advised that online sales does not always result in online ordering - even if you make a call and place your order, the Vendor is benefiting because if it was not for the web site you would not be ordering anything at all, so the online site concept still works fine!

I didn't group every vendor in my comments - I was being more specific to a bunch of losers on Ebay (not all Ebay vendors) who list product to beat out reputable companies and stock nothing. I never said Pyramyd didn't have inventory, I merely mentioned that it took days of efforts to call them and neither my friend Bob or I was able to talk to anyone.

I beg to differ with you regarding a call to an online vendor, most all the time if you call and ask the right questions you can find out if they really have the item in stock. I couldn't count the post I've seen on Forums of guys who bought product from online vendors and waited weeks only to find out their items were not even shipped yet!

Even with B&M stores when you call and ask if they have the item in stock you do not know if they really do. Often when you get there you find they do not have them or can't find them. It seems to me that if you don't want to wait then you need to opt for overnight and pay the big bucks.
