| Does anyone know anything about a new Storm xt with a new trigger and 1200 fps? I saw one at Walmart for $109.99. They had 3 of them. |

I bought one of those from WallyWorld on 16th of last month....I have enjoyed it so fas, shortened barrel 4 inches, modified the stock and replaced stock trigger with a GRT-III...I don't remember reading anything about it coming from factory with a new trigger, though.Didn't see any advertising on the outside of the box, or on any of the paperwork inside. At this point, the rifle is more accurate than I am, but I'm slowly making progress |

| Are they pretty nice guns? I've been looking at alot of "cheaper priced" guns latley. I've had some chinese guns that didn't shoot so well. I've also looked into the Russian guns (IZH) and they are both cheap, and accurate. The Storm XT has go some great reviews,so I may be looking into one. Ron |

On the box it says 1200fps and has the image of a triger and say new improved trigger.
Packrat I saw your ad but I wouldn't want the shortened barrel. Good luck on your sale. |

The box mine came in may have had that on it and I just missed it...,my 61 year old eyes aren't what they used to be The claim of 1200 fps is , I'm sure, using that pba ammunition..I have noticed that a LOT of manufacturers make a claim of really high fps, but then somewhere in "really fine print " it mentions using that pba. The trigger on mine obviously was NOT new or improved..I read and searched a lot about triggers , and following the advice of a good many folks here, installed a GRT-III in mine...M A N what a difference..like night and day. In my case it was $32.00 WELL spent..and went in in like 10 minutes..keep it in mind if you find the stock one not to your liking. Airguns of Arizona keeps them in stock.[/i] |

I bet your 61 year old eyes are every bit as good as my 62 yea rold eyes. Did your yours have an adjustable trigger? The 1200fps means nothing to me other than there have been some changes to the rifle, but the trigger may be nice if it was improved. I am thinking of getting one these new storm xt's after the first of the year and I just hope the scope that comes with it is usable at least for a while. Of course I was thinking the same about the quest and the ruger hawk. |

Well from one ol' f^(t to another I can tell you that I like scope.. I don't have much experience w/scopes, but the one that comes with the Storm seems to be of above average quality. It's about the right size, physically, for the gun, is easy (and accurate) to adjust. and has protective caps over the adjustment turrets, so it doesn't accidentally get turned out of adjustment. A clear cut better product than a good many I've seen on mass-produced products. Yes, the trigger on mine was adjustable, so they claimed, but in real worid usage, all the adjusting in the world did not help that trigger pull...the GRT-III on the other hand is the trigger it SHOULD have come with, really nice |

While the quest and the storm are very much alike in my inexperience I am not 100% sure that the new trigger claimed by the storm is the same trigger in the quest and I have seen nothing about the quest being improved to the point of 1200fps, whether it is with pba's or not as I am pretty sure quest also rates the velocity using pba's. |

My guess would be yes, it is - but it will take a while for the new trigger to replace the old one on the shelves. Almost all of Crosman's steel spring/break barrel offerings (the B18/B19 bunch) use the same trigger group, part number B18-05-00:

Well I think I have the answer to the advertised increase in velocity. The box says that the velocity test were done with non-lead pellets. I believe that would probably reduce the weight and may account for the 1200fps vice the 1000fps.
The triger has some vertical ribs on the finger side, but other than that I don't know what other differences there are from the Quest.
Now I need to try and find out the differences in the 2 scopes. The Storm has a 3-9x32 "precision" scope while the Quest 1000x has a 4x32 scope. Since I don't know anything about scopes and since they don't have any model names I suspect I will not be very successful in my research but will see. |

Go to Pyramyd Air....when you pull up each rifle to get more info, they list all the specs on the scope it comes with...that might be of some help |

From my research it seems that the scope on the storm xt is the better scope since it will make it easier for me to see through the scope without having to have my head perfectly placed. Also the variable power should be better for target shooting. I suspect the smaller field of view will make it a little more difficult to find the target initially which would be bad for hunting. I don't think I'll be doing much hunting though.
If the above is not accurate I would appreciate someone letting me know.
PS the specs for the scopes say in the discription at
http://www.pyramydair.com/p/crosman-storm-xt-air-rifle.shtml#productDescription
under Click for scope specifications, 15 yards but they don't explain what that is could anyone enlighten me? |
