As the subject line says I am new to springer air rifles ( like brand new 12-24-09). Searched the accessories area to find what I was looking for w/no luck. The rifle is a Diana 34. I really like it but don't much care for the hard sights. Neutral

Willing to spend roughly $100 US.... Embarassed

Some guidance would be appreciated.
BTW I am not new to firearms but just read something in here about "dual recoil" in a springer. made me question my initial choices.

Made by Crosman, so customer service is pretty good. Don't be afraid to call them if there's a problem. I have the 4-16x40 version, and it has held up incredibly well after 15,000+ combined shots from a Diana 34 and a Super Streak.

I have the 4-16x40 and I like it. Had to use a set of riser mounts for the objective lens to clear but other then that no issues

$100.00 is a reasonable price range. If I were looking for a scope, there are probably three things I would look at:

1. I have read that only a dedicated airgun scope should be used on a springer, and I've also read that no, modern rifle scopes can take it. Just to be safe, all my scopes are for airguns. There is a lot of bi-directional recoil and vibration there; you can feel it.

2. I am sold on adjustable objective lenses ("AO"). Mil-dot reticles are a nice option, but definitely get AO. I shoot anywhere from 10 to 100 yards, and a fixed objective scope has parallax error and a blurry image at all but the one range for which it is corrected.

3. I would look for the lowest mount that will still give clearance between the objective bell and the compression tube. The higher you go the more trouble you'll have zeroing at close ranges.

"For air rifle hunting, I haven't found anything I like better than the Wal-Mart sourced Bushnell Sportsman 4-12 A.O. model that currently graces my .20 R-9."

Did not see your post untill it was too late. I have a Bass Pro Shops a couple of miles from my house, went there this morning and popped for a Red Head 4-12x 40. I suppose I will be the guine pig for the group and see what happens with this thing. On the same note I was talking w/another customer he believed the Red Head scopes are made by Simmons. Know anything about that?
If this thing sucks off to Wally World I go.

Is that Center-Point a "regular rifle scope"? I was at Wally World the other day and saw a Bushnell (from what I understand is the same scope) but did not buy because I was not sure of the exact model of scope I was looking for. An actual model # would be FANTASTIC Mr. Green

. Got no problem with returning the Red Head.
