No, most of my shots are gonna be 20 - 25 yards or more and, the target will most likely be a squirrels head. I've been reading everything I can find and I'm guessing that I need to sight my rifle dead on at full magnification from 25 yards. Gosh, I hope I'm right. These are the steps I intended to take: 1) From 25 yds, adjust scope to max magnification. 2) Focus it 3) Shoot and adjust crosshairs up/down, left/right to where my pellet made impact. It sounds simple and really, it is but, what happens to my POI when I have to zoom out and take a shot. Whenever I zoom out or in, I don't get a really good shot. What is that? If not, it's a POS or broken. Adjust the reticule in the opposite direction the miss is. IE hit is left, move right. I think that if you could keep the whole gun from moving, and could fire multiple shots that way... then you could adjust the reticule TO the POI. If you're talking about your Storm--check to see if mounting rings are still in th erails....one of mine had slipped up just enough to make the scaope go completely stupid...I ended up filing down the bottom edge of the rings, and re-angle them so they'd fit in the 11mm grooves they way they should...with it all painted black, it was difficult to see..anyway...check to see if rings are still properly mounted in grooves on barrel..Mine 'bout drove me crazy......I was ready to use the scope as a target for practice ! _________________ HEY !! That will help to troubleshoot. By "focus" do you mean adjusting the ocular ring (the one in the back by your eye)? That is for bringing the reticle into sharp focus - not the image. With a fixed objective lens (i.e., not AO) the image will only be in focus at one range. You can determine what that is by putting the gun on a rest and looking at things at various ranges. Not only will the object be clear at one range, but when you move your head around the reticle will stay put on one spot. At any other distance the reticle will appear to move around, even with the gun resting untouched (parallax error). So short of buying a AO scope, how do you cope? If the scope is parallax corrected (image in focus) for a range within your hunting envelope, try to approach the little critter until you're at that range. Otherwise, put up with a blurred image at other ranges and try to position your head the same for each shot ("cheek weld" on the comb of the stock). The scope I put on my 140 is not AO. Crosman Premiere round nose UltraMag's. I ripped up the targets yesterday so, I shot a group real fast this morning. It's just a 3 shot group from 25 yds. Is that OK for hunting?: Yea, 1 got away from me Shot some more at the range yesterday, the wind was calm and it showed. The 2 errant looking shots were taken with my Storm XT(scope is loose again ): These are 25yd shots with a rest. Mine used to come loose too....in another post I wxplained how to file them down (doesn't take much) so that fir in rifle grooves better. After I did that..scope is ROCK steady !! _________________ HEY !! After I did that..scope is ROCK steady !! I knew it was just a matter of time before it got shook loose again. Every bolt came off the scope mount very easily. That scope was installed before I found out about the Blue Loctite. I just broke it down and, added the Loctite to every bolt, letting it cure for 24. While I had the scope the scope off I had some fun shooting with the "iron" sights. I've all but given up on having a scope on my XT. I've tried everything but filing it and' I'm not gonna do it because I know I'll screw it up even more. I originally used the scope that came with it...it ate that one up. So, then I shot it with iron sights for a while and it did very well for close shots. Bought the Beeman and shot that one all the time and, let my son shoot the Storm XT. Well, I must've forgotten how brutal the thing was on a scope because I mounted another on it . I originally had a two piece mount on it but, after stripping all the little screws on it, I needed another. I went out and bought a one-piece mount, blue loctite it (let it cure for 24 hrs) and, it still loosened up after just a few shots. I'm ready to take this gun by the barrel and hit the ground with it as hard as I can now:evil: . But, I calmed down and applied Gorilla glue to every bolt . Worked like a charm for 3 whole shots so, I'm like !!!! So, I just decided to take the scope off and shoot iron sights with it. I'm gonna put that scope on my little Silver Bear and call it a night. I am so disappointed that I can't get the scope right on it.
