This is just an idea, but there is a ton of good information about shot strings and tuning settings that is scattered all through this forum. Some of it is nearly impossible to retrieve unless the right key words were used. You have to pick through alot of crap to find the peanuts. With the Marauder expecially, there is going to be even more valuable information generated becuase of all the adjustability. This data takes a lot of careful work and time to produce, so it might be nice to have some central place to store it. What do you guys think? Even something as simple as a data forum that is divided into Disco, Mrod, and Other sections with just the raw data would be a step in the right direction.

going and get lost but a sticky or something???

like a member would submit it to you to verify accuracy of the info
then you post it?

Something like that could be done, but placing it in "topics" on the forum would still make it tough to find/digest- it seems it would be more of an actual webpage-type idea.

The question is: what precisely would people want to see in such a resource? And- how much detail would become "too much detail" on a specific gun/platform?

i guess gun-model specific ballistics?
shots per fill on pcp's?
shot's per spring (spring life) on springers?

too much detail would only be a problem if the info
wasn't outlined with good clearity...??

i dunno. sound slike a good idea. Idea

I agree that the problem of too much would only be a problem if it is not well organized. In the case of the Marauder, the gun can be optimized for any starting pressure between 2000 and 3000. For each pressure setting there will be a combination of pellet weight, striker stroke, spring preload, and valve setting. That is an almost infinite set of possibilities. The more data we collect, the eaier it will be for someone to pick a set of conditions close to what they want that might work..

The problem with shot strings is that you would get dozens of different ones for the same gun, which wouldn’t tell you anything, the only use is when you make a modification to an air gun and you can compare the two strings, which would lead to details of the mod being posted in the wrong place, so confusing everyone.

So I think you would have to much overlap of information with other forums, making it more difficult to find what you are looking for.
