My father in law has a big cat that from day one would vertically string
After he saw and shot my NPSS he wanted to just have his big cat converted to gas ram, rather than messing with tuning is as a spring gun, so he shipped it off to Pyramid air and had it converted.
We were thinking there was a spring issue with the rifle and changing it to gas ram would eliminate the stringing issue
Well with the strut he still has the same issue. At times there is a good 6” vertical string at 25 yards. There is no change in the windage just vertical
The scope is tight and it has been replaced doing away with the cheap scope that came with the rifle.
All the stock screws are tight.
The only thing I see is the seal at the breach has signs of wear. There are some little marks like may be some of the ring has been torn.
Is there a way to check and see if the air is leaking there when the rifle is shot causing a large variance in the velocity?
Unfortunately we do not have a chronograph to check the velocity
I was thinking if we could put something around the breech, and fire the rifle to see if there was a leak |

Yes - put a small piece of tissue paper over the crack (Kleenex, toilet paper, etc.) and see if it blows away.
Dab at the muzzle (right where the barrel ends) with a cotton swab (Q Tip) and look to see if the metal snags any fibers. It might be a candidate for polishing. |

determined the breech seal is leaking
Now where is a good place to get a good replacement seal and how to replace it? |
