So the airgun bug has bitten me HARD this last month or two. like really bad hard....like I'm thinning out powder guns to make room for and fund the purchase of more air guns. I have several projects on the burner.

I have a Benji 342 that I'm sending into Mac-1 to get a Steroid treatment and peep sights installed.

I have a used 392 I bought for $30 with the worst trigger EVER It needs a super sear installed.

I have a Diana model 46 that I've decided needs a fresh tune and a scope.

I have a well loved Tarantula (My son has dubbed it "The Precious" due to my affection and protectiveness of it) that will eventually need a new scope and some new mags. I would love to get a more neighbor friendly muzzle brake for it as well.

Now what I WANT:

I want some CRAPPY springers. maybe not too crappy....but I wanna buy a couple two or three expendables to take apart and learn from. Chinese ones, the Wal-Mart Beemans? I would like to have a potentially enjoyable gun at the end of the day, but expendability is key....

I want a new springer....Probably a Wiehrauch HW80, or HW50S. Perhaps a BSA Sportsman or Lightning.

I want an older Sheridan...It was the first airgun I truly fell in love with as a kid. I still love the way they look and shoot. It would be really nice to have one.

I want more PCP's....a Benji Discovery, an Airforce Condor, perhaps a BSA Ultra, and a big bore of some sort.

Man has the bug bit hard! And I'm on my way back to the North Slope for a month where I'll have nuthin' but time to ponder these things.

Man, oh man...what have I gotten myself into??

Reasonably I should fix what I've got first....but it's SO much less fun than something new and cool!

You might want to check out the "For Sale" and "Want to buy" forums at the bottom of the main forum index. I'll bet there are plenty of guys around here who could help you get into a "crappy" springer for experimentation purposes and it would be a lot cheaper than buying a new one at Wally-World.

Other than that, yeah it sounds like you got it real bad. Laughing

Check out Archer Airguns. They are the specialists for inexpensive (and not really crappy) Chinese made airguns. For the price you should not be disappointed.

Do you already have a HPA setup for your pcp needs?

Maybe I'm an odd duck...right now I've got a Hill hand pump for the Tarantula, and I'm really liking pumping it up manually. Kinda like shooting one of the beloved muzzle loaders, but I work for a series of shots in one fell swoop instead of one shot at a time. I kinda got a bit of a sore upper body from pumping the Tarantula so much the first week I had it.

I might eventually wanna get a tank, etc., but right now I'm having fun, although I'd like a spare pump eventually too....

Aw heck.....who am I kidding....I'll want one of them too, eventually....*sigh*

Hill pumps are desired for their high quality, and that the manufacturer has built them to be disassembled and rebuilt with new parts when the product is old and broken. While other pumps will need to be scrapped and bought new, you can rebuild the Hill to "new" functionality for a fraction of the price.

Archer Airguns or Mike Mellick will be the best sources for you to get inexpensive Chinese guns to tinker with. If you got serious about them and wanted a custom gun, Mike can really work magic on those guns.

Looks like my priority list is beginning to make sense....

RWS 46 is sold to a friend

Benji 392 given to same friend

Ordering Super Sear for 392 and then leaving it alone for awhile in a week or two

Purchasing BSA Ultra, scuba bottle, yoke, pellets, mounted scope, lots of goodies. The Ultra makes sense to me as a family/picnic gun/backyard plinker/go-to hunter-spare-can abuse with less conscience than the Tarantula.

next allowances....mags, neighbor friendly muzzle brake, new seals kit for Tarantula (and scope)

Steroid tune for Benji

Nice Springer...weihrauch, HW 80,85, 50S, RWS 34, or BSA Supersport XL, etc...I'll have plennnty of time to consider it.

I also shot an IZH 46....I need one of those now too...

wow.....It seemed so orderly, and sensible before I typed it out....

Oh well...twenty something days left on the slope before I can go getting into trouble...

Thanks for....entertaining my uhmmm.....overzealousness Embarassed

This isn't the place to find a cure - we're enablers. Look at it this way: Think of all the airguns sitting unloved in warehouses, or worse - rusting in people's garages. You're providing a service by giving them a loving home.
