| Each rifle "likes" a differnt type. It's a matter of finding out which one. This isn't that much of an issue, because then you're also practicing and becoming familar with your rifle. I would however advise against using those gamo "gold" pellets, and the company's hype about speed. Speed doesn't mean a thing if you can't hit the broad side of a barn from 20 yards. I'd start out trying Crosman premium domed and go from there. |

Depends on what your gun likes. Some will shoot the cheapest ammo the best, while you could throw high quality pellets more accurately.
Just test out what you can get your hands on locally. Or if none of them work try Pyramyd Air and make sure to use the 3 get one free deal. I would probably get a tin of Beretta pointed, Crosman hunting (the cheap milk carton box ones), Crosman Premier hollow point, Gamo hunter, RWS superdome, RWS club/diabolo basic, JSB diabolo 8.4gr, Beeman Laser sport.
That should be 8 different pellets, the two cheapest models would be free from PA because of their deal. You gun should like at least one of those. |

My Gamo really likes the 10.9gr Rockets and they're great for hunting too.
But, they're a bit expensive so my general plinkin' and my practice pellet is the Crosman Premier. The CP was recommended to me by the old timers here and I think most folks here use those more than anything else. They're a good weight, very consistent, and cheap as well. |

My super streak is OK with .22 CPH. The Diana 34 shoots better with the cheapy pointed than it does CPL. Both like RWS pellets. The SS is partial to gamo match and Bearcubs. If I can get a consistent batch (good luck with Gamo...) the 34 would shoot ragged holes with Gamo magnums.
Oh, how I hate expensive ammo. I probably won't pay more than $15/500, especially from an online retailer, it's moving up into the cost of rimfire. But it would still be cheaper to buy the expensive pellets because of range fees and other needs that come with using a burner. |

oddly enough, i discovered that the old benjamin sheridan 'cylinder' pellets work just fine in my beeman rx-1 (it's the .20)
they're accurate, hard hitting and plentiful. i can normally pick them up at most kmarts, wally worlds etc for very reasonable prices. last 500 package i picked up at 'Sportsmart' set me back $7.00. |

Yes the cylindricals work extremely well. Devastating on game. My silver streak throws them like lead balloons but they still make contact with authority. Their BC is higher than the average .20 pellet so I could only imagine how fast other pellets would drop off...
3 pumps at 10m onto steel swinger targets completely flattens the pellet into a perfect mushroom. |
