| Looking for some advise. First of all I'm pretty new to the air gun seen. Started with a cheap chinese air rifle .22 cal I brought from gun and knife show. It sat around for years in the box .Had a problem squirrels destroying my garbage cans left trash hanging from my trees. This rifle had enough power to do the job. Then came QUEST 1000 .177 ,it got a couple off kills but it didnt have the knock down of that .22 . Finally I bought the Hammerli 850 .22 ,then I got really hooked that rifle is sweeeeett and deadly accurate. It has moved to wanting a pcp . Here are my choices Sumatra 2500 ,Air Venturi Halestorm. These rifles air in m y price range at the moment, I've seen others I'd love to have but they are pricey. It'll be for pest up to ground hog size and some plinking. The Halestorm a a 10 round mag but the Sumatra power can be adjusted . Accuracy is important. Sorry for being long winded I'm a litttle excited. Thanks for any help or suggestions. |

The Halestorm is a renamed Hatsan AT-44 (literally, "Air Venturi" is the PyramydAir "house brand" name).
Personally, I find the Sumatras and Shinsung rifles to look very poor cosmetically- as in they are fugly. Beyond that I personally can't say if one is better than the other... |

| The Hatsan AT-44 is a fine airgun. There is not much that will beat it for it's price. |

though pellet picky i am in love with my marauder. dead silent and dead on accurate.
mine seems to only like beeman ammo. i get about 25 shots +- 20fps.
it runs 25-28fpe out of the box. |

That was my first choice but I live in Michigan where shrouded barrels cannot be shipped. |

I chkd out the Talon ,then I got hooked on the repeaters. I like the follow up shot option it also gives a chance for multiple kills. |

Does anyone know is the halestorm picky on pellets? How is that removable cylinder? Is it pretty easy to read and is it accurate on readings? It kinda favors the singal shot hammerli pcp. |

Well, most manometers on airguns aren't THAT accurate. You only need to use the dial for a rough estimate of how much usefull shots you may have left (try counting the pellets you shoot, easyer) and to check if you're not putting to much or to little pressure in there.
They're pretty well made. I'm not sure about it being pellet fussy, but most rifles have a particular pellet so you're just gonna have to try them yourself.
I wouldn't worry to much about pellet costs until you got the rifle. Pellets can work different per rifle. |

It might be a bit overpowered. They're also quite thirsty, not extremely consistent, and 100 yards won't be easy. 50 yards were already a bit of a dissapointment.
Great fun though.
Actually, I'm still guessing the Halestorm may be a better gun. They're not that expensive over there are they? |

Alot... and that is just an estamate.... On average... the local dive shop sells 80 cu aluminum un-regulated SCUBA tanks for $200+. Steel tanks are almost twice that...
Search your local Craigslist for used SCUBA tanks... Even with the cost of a Hydro re-cert... much less than buying new. Clamps can be picked up on eBay pretty cheap... $25ish + shipping.
We run 3 SCUBA tanks in a "cascade system" for filling. But then again... our shoots are an all day event... Can't wait till Sunday out at the pit... Woooo hoooo! Beer Bottles at 200+ yards again! 10" saw blades at 150.... My last shoot... 14 hits in a row on the saw blade... Only two bottles at 220...
The other option is smaller fill tanks for tramping arround... I have 62 ci tanks with 3000 psi fill and 2000 psi out regulators... takes the guess work out of filling and compact enough to toss in a day pack. I can fill my Disco/Sniper 10 times on one tank.
They run $125 through www.muzzlemack.com and can be filled by a SCUBA tank, HPA Pump or at a Paintball shop...
Carbon Fiber tanks are awesome... almost twice the fills and same physical size. One drawback... You have to have them filled at a paintball shop if you want to use the full psi capacity... |

| i paid $175 with yoke for a used steel tank. it costs me $6.50 to fill it at a dive shop. i get 2000+ shots out of my marauder filling to 2200psi. if you buy from joe you won't be disapointed. |

Ok finally saw a vid with the Halestorm......, think thats gonna be the one. It looks better than the pic. The whole cubic ft thing the the scuba tanks is kinda confusing to new comer. So ideal would be to get a tank that holds 4500 psi and atleast 130cubic ft. If the rifle runs at 3000 psi ,which i think the Halestorm does. I'd get how many fills? My thinking is if you have 3000psi in a tank it gonna exhaust its capacity of 3000 psi the 1st time. |
